Boris made a great move this week that went under the radar, or was forced under the radar by the press.

His move to grant foreign university students a free pass to the UK should they qualify, was pure genius.

Not only does it keep the cream here, which has always been a point some of us worried about immigration have been making for years, but it should also dispel the idiotic notion we are a country of racists....

Agree it's a good move, heard it discussed on the news. Allowing students to stay for two years after graduating rather than the current four months sends the right signals and will be a boost to the education sector. Think they said that 10% of London uni students are from China and that is likely to increase.

They had the chairman of Migration Watch saying it was a bad move which is a pretty good indication that it's the right thing to do. As an aside, had to reset my irony meter when I found out he is a Turkish-Cypriot migrant who moved to the UK unable to speak English...

Yep. You can't right some of the side issues that come to the fore as a result of all the current shit storm.

Some professional protestors will try to foment unrest irrespective of outcomes. Somewhere over 99% of the population will keep calm and carry on

I used to laugh at the idea that people thought someone was paying people to protest, but with the Russians interference these days, you wouldn't be surprised.

During the miners strike outsiders could get £5 and a sandwich to spend the day protesting....100% fact

Whilst we are on the subject of protesters

On an early morning foxhound meet some young uni guys rolled up protesting

After the meet finished around 9am we talked to the protestors and they had been paid £20 to attend, which was some nice beer money

They spent the rest of the day bush beating for the foxhound master for another £20 each

Funny world

Haha, that can't be true - can it ?

It's always quieter at the weekend I think Trev. When Doobs helpfully picked up on my use of the word professional I thought I'd used the wrong word. Maybe shouldn't be surprised to see some people do get paid to participate even if I was more alluding to the fact that there are groups of people, not exclusively but mainly on the left, that will show up and protest anything.

Brexit and a little disruption isn't, in my opinion, comparable to the conditions and circumstances that led to things like race riots, the miners strike clashes. The idea of British people rioting over a few price increases or a few shortages is pretty fanciful. Hope I'm right anyway

Can’t see a Lib Dem and Labour election deal on not standing against each other after Swindon’s appearance on Marr Show.

It’s good to see her honouring the referendum result as Cable and Ashdown said they would.

She’s even ditching the people’s vote option and going straight for revoke.

Good articles found yesterday

"Boris Johnson is trapped in a prison of his own construction. He isn't out of options, but it must be horrendous to know that all routes to freedom rely on the kindness of people who hate him"

The UK thinks it can satisfy two of the EU’s three requirements for a backstop replacement. But it is the 3rd one—no checks on the island of Ireland—which is where the problem is

Will Boris Johnson go for a NI-only backstop? Here’s RTE's take on the political and legal challenges.

The Opinium poll yesterday was an eye opener

Opinium/Observer latest:

CON: 37% (+2)
LAB: 25% (-)
LDEM: 16% (-1)
BREX: 13% (-)
GRN: 2% (-1)

Previous we have been seeing CON+BXP = LAB+LD+GRN, this is the first one that has CON/BXP a few points clear
