The Grand Prix Poker Tour makes its customary ‘stop’ at partypoker with our next Online Leg, held at 5pm on Sunday 20th March 2016.  With $250,000 Guaranteed and a buy in of just $109, it promises to be another great online tournament on partypoker.  The previous online leg was won by Germany’s Yanick “YTheSnail” Louis, who won a cool $35,000 and a Grand Prix Poker Tour trophy.

What are the odds of partypoker software going down on the day of the Grand Prix Newcastle and the day before partypokers $5M Powerfest Series? Until last week the partypoker software has been rock solid stability wise, one small update to the database and boom - the nightmare happens, on probably the worst possible day for DTD and partypoker.

Poker players are not generally the most sympathetic bunch but I like to dream that anyone following the partypoker and DTD journey for the last 12 months won't chastise us too much for this mishap on Saturday. I remember the UKIPT a few years ago and the flooring giving way in the marquee, I remember looking up at the ceiling in DTD and noticing water gushing into the club all over players when a pipe burst, I remember walking into the DTD toilets and a wave of water and other stuff hitting me when the sewers were blocked - stuff just goes wrong from time to time - whether it be live and online.

This is a painful business with the odd win that keeps you in the game, but mostly its just firefighting however if you do a half decent job, your customers stay loyal, they share your pain, and have your backs when the chips are down.

When the software went down - the first reaction of Tom Waters , the new boss at partypoker, was 'what can we do for the Grand Prix players in way of compensation' - in a few hours Chris Donnachie , Poker Room Manager at partypoker, had set up a special $50,000 Gtd Online Grand Prix with partypoker adding $10,000 to the prize pool, enabling players with GPPT Tickets to use them and giving some extra value, this a UK only event to ensure it benefits the players most likely to have been inconvenienced in the 6pm Day 1 the Stadium and Online Day 1.

Its a bumpy road at the moment, we are growing partypoker online and expanding our live poker offering across the UK, news of more projects such as Simon Trumper 's GPPT Mini Tour in selected casinos plus another huge international project will be announced shortly.

There is so much happening at the moment, both at partypoker and in DTD, so Fred Wise is in the process of setting me up a blog www.robyongsblog.com so that I can communicate things more clearly directly to you. As you would expect with Fred, the Blog is not finished yet. Players will be able to ask me questions directly as well as me being able to keep everyone updated in a more organised and timely manner.
