i loved this from John Conroy on fb

"Had my third visit to Dusk Till Dawn in as many weeks. Played 2 events in the WPT festival Fabulous events (as always) Run professionally filled with the legends of British Poker. 3 $1m guaranteed tournaments in a week - marvellous stuff - Rob and his team run these kind of events better than anyone else - fact!
Bumped into lots of old friends, played for almost 3 full days and left without a dime ; screaming to myself as I drove the hour home after a rough main event exit near the bubble. Nonetheless professional poker tournaments of the highest calibre.
But the £250K GTD DTD November Grand Prix is what I'd like to speak about. A $109 (£90) entry fee with a £250k guarantee. Rob and DTD at their lunatic best.
Congrats to Sanjay Patel on his great win - I played all day with him (16 hours in my case) and he played flawlessly but for me the real star was not Sanjay but a young Finnish girl (whose name I never got unfortunately) who played at my table for most of the day.
This girl entered a $5.50 satellite on Party Poker not realising it wasnt a fully online event. She made it to a $22 sat then the $109 online Day 1 and amassed an above average stack for the LIVE Day 2 in Nottingham . She lives in rural Finland and had NEVER played a live event before. I am offensively bad at guessing the age of women but I reckon she was in her early 20s. She then booked her bus to Helsinki, her flight to Heathrow, her bus to Nottingham and her Bed and Breakfast near the club. She travelled 15 hours on Friday and was returning today. Her trip cost her £200 flight and about £200 more for the buses and B and B. Her fiance couldn't raise the cash to come with her so she travelled alone.
She was as nervous as a kitten - clearly unused to handling chips, shy and softly spoken. Now her English was a darn site better than my Finnish but it wasn't flawless, so the combination of her shyness, nervousness, quiet voice and imperfect English sometimes made it difficult to know what her bet sizes were (7 different chip denominations didnt help either
) But the players and dealers to a person were patient and tried to help her out where they could. Not one person player or dealer chided her for string betting or taking a while to place her bets as she figured things out.
Oh and btw this lady could play - when they announced the payout list - she was a little disheartened as 5% of the entries would be paid (10% of unique entries was the valid explanation) . 135 were to be paid and we were around 250 players (which was close to 10% of entries Yup almost 2500 entries!!!!)). Nonetheless she didnt moan or groan. She just went on a tear instead - going from short stack trying to limp into the money to table chip leader in a glorious hour for her.
A few hours later as we arrived at the bubble - she grew very nervous and hardly played a hand. The bubble seemed to last an eternity but eventually it bust and she had made the money. She literally did a seat jig (it's a thing , ok!) She was immediately texting , presumably Fiance, family and friends . Ironically the bubble burst when someone who didnt show up for Day 2 finally anteed off. She finally exited with around 80 left with £900 or so. Not much profit given her high expenses but I'm sure memories for a lifetime. THIS is the essence of DTD, a professionally run tournament with a recreational atmosphere. If the decline in poker is to be reversed , it needs to attract lots of players like this - treat them with respect, allow them to make mistakes, have fun and have a dream to win big. Fantastic stuff again DTD.
Can I make a request Simon Trumper , Rob, Glenn Townsend - can you send this girl (Seat 7 table 23 at the beginning of the day) a DTD goody bag and some flowers - I will happily pay. Thanks in advance.
And once again Bravo DTD"

What a great story. I suppose this is why party/Rob got in bed together. There must be hundreds of players like this who have to turn up to dtd and play at the mecca of poker outside of vegas after playing online by chance.
