Sad news from the Primaries, as Mindy Robinson has fallen short, finishing third of the six candidates to be the Republican nominee in Nevada's 3rd Congressional District. I’d have thought that, if anywhere would elect a reality TV star to Congress, it would be Vegas, but maybe its citizens aren’t ready yet. She put almost no cash into her campaign, relying on her fame and her huge social media following, but achieved a respectable result. Let us hope that we see her again.

Also running for the seat was pro poker player Brian Nadell, whose website calls him a 'poker legend' and who calls himself "one of the top professional poker players in the world" on his election video. Nadell has reached numerous WSOP final tables, finishing 2nd three times, 3rd twice and 4th twice, without ever snagging a bracelet. He once reached four WSOP final tables in 16 days, finishing 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th. Almost all his cashes have been in mixed games, though he makes an exception to play the Main Event, which he has cashed five times.

The voters of Vegas are too sensible to elect these oddities. Instead, they have played safe and gone for former WWE pro wrestler Dan Rodimer (wrestled as Dan Rodman), who tweeted “I’m running for US Congress to take a folding chair to the Washington DC establishment and change the way government does business”. That’s the kind of sober politician needed in these difficult times.

Rodimer (left) hired Sean Spicer's firm to help him get elected.

Ronald is nearly a 6/4 shot (40%) on bf now for November.  Very liquid market with £36m already punted on it.   Quite incredible considering betfair isn't a us facing operation.

He's a fair unit! I'd never heard of him, though I'm well detached from WWE these days Cheesy

It's like a circus out there, how do these people get so involved, so quickly?

With Mindy's defeat, I need a new person to support. Who better than Marjorie Greene, who has won her race to be the GOP nominee in Georgia's 14th District, which virtually guarantees her future in Congress:

My days, they've got some beauties.

If I didn't know better, I would think these were from SNL.

The Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit is based in Columbus, Georgia and includes the six counties around it. Julia Slater has been District Attorney for the last twelve years and was Assistant D.A. for ten years before that. She was expected to cruise to a fifth term this year but was unexpectedly challenged within her own party by Columbus lawyer Mark Jones, characterising himself as "The People's D.A.", who narrowly beat her in this week's Democrat Primary. There will be no Republican candidate in November, so Jones will become the District Attorney then, but Slater stays in post in the interim.

So what? Well, during the campaign, the new person who will be in charge of all prosecutions was arrested by the Columbus Police on charges that he said were "fabricated and political". He is certainly a lot more liberal than the current D.A., and spent part of the campaign defending racism protesters in court, so it is possible that the police wouldn't be keen. He faces four felony and two misdemeanour charges, including conspiracy to commit criminal damage to property, conspiracy to commit interference with government property and conspiracy to commit reckless conduct.

Why was he arrested? It's all to do with a campaign video, in which Jones appears as a fish out of water with a bunch of rappers. It's not on YouTube, but it's on this link:  https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=837506603429162

The D.A.'s office has a total staff of 69, with 29 of them Assistant District Attorneys. After the election, the new boss had news for them: “They are going to have to re-interview, because there’s obviously some issues with the office."
