Warne gone at 52.   The goat of test match bowlers for me.

He was there at the height of pace bowling and couldn't have been any more different. Wrist spin is like some arcane dark art, he did it with so much personality and panache.

Has to be one of the most important cricketers to have played the game.

Shocking news. Gone way too soon.

Spent the morning catching up on yesterday’s tributes in The Times sports section. For those like me who are unfamiliar with the finer points of the game of cricket, there are some tributes from the likes of Atherton and Gooch that help you appreciate the genius of the man, his passion for the sport, and his simple humanity.

RIP Shane

Great bowler, top personality. Even against us, couldn’t help but love him. You could imagine after a hard fought test match, him n Botham, out on the town together giving it large. Top man. Second best spinner of all time. RIP

Still can't quite believe it .

Never forget him playing for Hampshire in a one dayer at Whitgift School. After the match Warnie pulled up a chair to sign autographs. Hundreds in the queue around the boundary. He signed everyone.

Like some of us, played a bit of poker with him, including a charity poker event at The Grove Hotel, where he also gave a talk. Fantastic evening.

 RIP Warnie.

Perfectly written to respect the old boy whilst still having a little fun.

For those not familiar with him - I was very aware of him but for all the wrong reasons - here's a short obit of the old boy, who gave many many millions to charity. Lived in North Yorkshire apparently.

I had assumed he was just some old duffer who had inherited his wealth.  Got to respect his back story.

I saw this one yesterday, always sad when people die so young.  Maddening how so many of these threads on twitter are taken over by anti-vaxxers these days.   Several hundred (probably thousands by now) were prepared to believe that Shane Warne went to Ko Samui with his mates to get his booster...

I didn't really know of him, but rest in peace young man.
