I went to the toilet at Notts the other week and taffy was washing his hands and shouting at somebody.  I said "whats all the fuss about taff?" he pointed to the mirror and said "that ugly bastard through there keeps looking at me" - i told him that it was a mirror and the fella looking at him was none other than himself! he didn't believe me though and sarted arguing with me and calling me a lier - i left the room to the sound of him still cursing the steptoe look-a-like on the other side of the wash basin!

all good fun

You mean Taffy, the CardRoom Manager?

He's old & cantankeros & Welsh, a dreadful combination. I take him with a pinch of salt, he don't try & mess with me for some reason. But I do cringe when he's giving large and some poor newbie is sat there wondering what on earth he has let himself in for. A quiet word in his ear is needed, because it's just plain daft that Gala are working so hard to make things better down there, & Taffy, who contributes no more than any other player, is dishing out grief left right and centre. It is VERY unsettling for newbies to encounter old Taffy when he's got it on him.

He's harmless really, but the kids are unsettled by him. And we are trying to encourage Lady players, who'd allow their Lady to sit on a table when Taff is on full song?

Back off a shade please Taffy, we go there to have fun, not be moaned at. The married folks can stay at home & endure that.

Add it to your list Rob......

Fair point snoopy, he's an easy target, so the wise guys chuck a little bait, Taffy bites in a flash, & the newbies end up wondering what the hell is going on.

But we are all responsible for the way we conduct ourselves, & Taffy's old enough & ugly enough to know that by now.

But if you blow a little smoke up his arse, he'll look after you for life.

People skills, that's all.

Some folks have NO idea of fashion, eh?

But for some of us, good clothes sense comes naturally, without thinking.

On a more serious note, Taffy dealing, and the kafuffle it causes, does highlight the importance of House Dealers. I know it's a touchy subject at the Gala with folk goin on about it, but it would make a hell of a difference.

It would be inappropriate for me to comment on the developments of this thread.(with regard to pink shirted individuals)
except maybe to say:

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes... That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes Wink

Firstly, still smiling at the post above.

Secondly, can't comment about Nottingham as I yet to go to the Gala but having ventured into Walsall  I say I had a more than pleasurable time in the 300 freezeout and, yes, there is a bloke that looks like pocket Tom Cruise.

I understand and appreciate what you are saying.

However, that doesn't defer from the question that first arose in this thread. 'What casino should I go to?'

My answer remains the same. Go to Walsall for your debut because, as a newbie, you may find various characters at the gala intimidating.

No offense to no1, and I hope none is taken.
