Dunno Taffy but Theo is a nice fella.
My old fella's favourite saying was "show me a good loser and i'll show you a loser", some folks are just a bit more vocal about it than others  Grin

Taking defeat badly or well is one thing. Moaning & groaning about it is another.

Grown-ups moaning about pioker? They need to get real.

It would be inappropriate for me to comment on the developments of this thread.
except maybe to say:

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes... That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes Wink

I understand and appreciate what you are saying.

However, that doesn't defer from the question that first arose in this thread. 'What casino should I go to?'

My answer remains the same. Go to Walsall for your debut because, as a newbie, you may find various characters at the gala intimidating.

No offense to no1, and I hope none is taken.

Snoopy it seems that you may have taken my post the wrong way.

I can and will comment on the beginners poker scene etc
i cannot comment negatively about casino customers it is unethical

and please read the joke again for it is indeed a joke.

mile away... have their shoes... funny stuff! Wink Wink Wink Wink Cheesy Shocked

Yes. Sorry. I misread the line. I'm giving a belated laugh now. Honest!  Wink  Cheesy Tongue

Anyhow, I would like to say that, I get on with Taffy okay.

However, many don't. Cue unnecessary arguments. Cue newbies sinking into their seats. Cue newbies never returning. I know I wouldn't if it had been my first game on Thursday. The behaviour on my table was unacceptable and I felt sorry for the rookie on the table who had to witness all the pointless arguing.

Luckily, I had friendly guys like Greek George and Little John on my first ever table. Players who made my debut fun and entertaining, rather than hostile and unconfortable.

Hi guys
Point taken re Taffy being intimidating to the newbies but I have found him to be pretty thoughtful about the game and suprisingly honest about the mistakes he makes bad calls etc....
Reliable dealer too!
All in all just a pussy cat!   LOL

Despite Taffy certainly not being everyones cup of tea. I don't mind him and he has always been alright with me.In fact i don't mind being at his table cos you guarenteed a decent dealer who wants to deal. Often you feel at Notts the dealers are being forced into it cos no other sod wants to deal.

He was good as gold tonight, moaned a bit, but he's Welsh, so I guess that's par.

But the incessant aqrguing was horrendous. At least half a dozen players told me they would never return.

Can't say I blame them.

Were they regulars?

Is it over the new dealer payment rule?

It seemed to me that caused some disquiet on friday and that there had been a disagreement on thursday when someone didn't want to pay?

Were who regulars - the guys arguing, or the ones not coming back?

The ones not coming back.

I assumed the ones arguing would be regulars.

Hmm doesn't sound good. Im off holiday for a week so won't be there next week. Hopefully it will all calm down as this could really make what use to be an enjoyable place to play poker a bit of a no no in the future.

Glad I missed it now, probably the hot weather not helping people with short fuses?

Whats the "new dealer payment" rule?

I have to say I dont play Notts often because I find the constant bickering a strain, especially when people  use there turn to act as a chance to mouth off at someone, they seem more interested in the argument than the game, Its not as if they are arguing about anything in particular, just taking opposing sides for the sake of it.

I do hope that no one is offended by this post, It wasnt meant like that, I think Notts Gals has so much going for it, its a shame for a few individuals to spoil it for the majoriy
