Is there still the possibilty of Big Phil & Big Sam teaming up? I think that can work.

No way in a million years would it:

a) work

and

b) Both managers wouldn't want to be in a partnership.

a) its possible, part-time basis for Big Sam (as McClaren does now).

b) agreed, both strong characters (trouble would brew between the two)

McClaren is Svens coach. Not his 2nd in charge or his assiatnt or his partner.

Now that Scolari has refused, it seems like McClaren will be the manager after the World Cup.

McClaren is now 1.8 on Betfair.

I'd prefer Malcolm McClaren to Steve McClaren.

I would rather have Scholari than Allardyce and Pearce.

me and nem agree on at least one thing.

there is no way big fat sam should manage england. yes i will also agree with kev and say what he has done at bolton is fantastic, but the point is it works for bolton. you cant have the best players in england in which some of them are the best in the world in their respective positions lumping the ball as far as they can "just to make it hard" for the opposition likewise you dont want lampard and gerrard to kick lumps out of other players "to let them know you are there"

i think we missed the boat not getting hiddink. the best person to manage england who knows the english game aswell as anybody (and also the foriegn game) would be arsene wenger but there is NO WAY he will do it. with the players england have and the way which wenger gets his players playing i think we would win the world cup.

so the best avalible without question is "BIG PHIL" he is attack minded which is what we need not somebody like sven who seems scared of top class opposion or big fat sam who has never told a team to play football.

Behind Wenger and Benitez, I rate Hiddink as the 3rd best manager in the world.

We definitely missed the boat not appointing Hiddink. However Dan, I do think Sam Allardyce is a very good manager, better than Curbishley and Peacre.

The press start to do a job on Scolari to get a story, he drops out because of the press and they then have a story that the FA are making a shambles of it.
They just can't lose.  Cheesy
The only losers are us England fans that will end up with someone that can't manage for toffee. Shame the press don't care whether we win trophies or not.

Interestingly, the front page of tomorrow's Sun is Steve McClaren coming clean about an affair he's been having. The press have known about this for a couple of weeks, but were waiting for the right time to pull the trigger. McClaren obviously got wind of this and has come clean to get it out of the way, possibly ahead of any big appointment he may be offered in the near future.
