What a fabulous clearance by Dott to steal frame 5 and go 3-2 ahead.

Oh Mr Red!
That old tip was a thing of perfection, it will take you 2 years to get the new one back into that shape!
I doubt there will be another boom but I do think there should be a Blonde Snooker Bash!

The old tip had gone spongey Stuart. Back in the day, I used to sit with a snooker ball in by hand, hammering away at a new tip, it reduces the playing-in period tenfold.

Salvaged my cue, still as straight a die. (ash see, with good grain) Needs a tip though. I have a box of Elk Masters, but it's a long time since I've put one on. | Click to see full-size image. |

I always preferred an Elk to a blue diamond. Bit softer and gave me more grip

I tried one once but I was terrified of it. When you hit the cue ball with it it made a sound like a bullet ricochetting off a bolder in a box canyon.

I bet not many of you remember when we had to put tips on using 'wafers' and having to wait 24 hours for then to dry.

They were known as "French tips" and although having a much harder feel they had terrific grip once you got used to them. Canadian cues were almost all made of maple and that might have been a reason why those harder tips performed better.

You're right about the Maple cues, all the foreigners had them.

I have yet to encounter a finer exponent of stating the obvious than the nonetheless likeable Mike Hallett.
I reckon he'd be perfect for radio commentary.

Yo, snookerati: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=56581.msg2211979#msg2211979Let's hear your views on this tip, please. Now old Willy Thorne his hair's all gone And his mates all take the rise His opponent said cover up his head Cos it's shining in my eyes When the light shines down on his bare crown It's a cert he's gonna walk it It's just not fair giving off that glare 'Perhaps I ought to chalk it

I'm not very good at this photo malarkey but here's my cue - the tip seems okay despite not hitting a ball for a good fifteen years.
