Amen to all that Tom.

Love to see the players well-dressed, the spectators orderly and respectful.

Spectators dressed in replica football shirts - snooker or anywhere - should all be shot. I went to breakfast at The Lux in Las Vegas one year and one of my dining companions turned up in a football shirt. Never been so embarrassed in my life.

I bet it was a crap team too.

All major snooker finals should be black tie/lounge suits dress code like the old masters finals at Wembley used to be imo.

- Collared shirts in the morning and afternoon sessions.
- Lounge suit for the evening sessions
- Black tie for the evening sessions in the final.

It's not an incumbrance to dress well.

Don't get me started on poker!

Even better.

Bloody love the formality of (proper) snooker.

Seems a very acceptable balance across all sessions.

His other half always looks terribly bored

His other half is wearing the same top as last year, too. I saw the same top in Dorothy Perkins last week.

Now Ronnie's at it 0-4 at the break.

Was listening to 5Live earlier today and they had Murphy and Allen on. Allen’s step-son, who is just 13, made a 147 last week. What’s more it only took him 5m20s!

If Maguire can beat Ronnie today, good luck to him, but with Selby already on his way home, it'd take some of the shine off the next 2 weeks if Ronnie goes busto.

The thing with Ronnie is he reminds me of when I used to go watch, say, George Best, Alex Higgins  or Ian Botham. You never quite knew what to expect, but sometimes, they'd do that magic thing, & we'd be enthralled. And Ronnie, almost alone amongst snooker players, can do that.

PS - Don't forget, 10am start.

What a start in the snooker.

Ronnie took the opener to go 4-6, then after a protracted safety battle at the start of the next, Ronnie makes a mistake and let's Maguire in. With the balls open and the frame at his mercy, he runs in a simple 49 before making an unforced error on a simple chance. Despite two Red's and a yellow being tied up or on cushions, Ronnie clears up with an immaculate 84.

Plenty of play in this yet.
