Was watching a break from Jimmy White from the B & H at Wembley against Kirk Stevens.

Popped up on my feed and I always liked Jimmy White and Wembley was the only place I saw a snooker tourn live when I played quite regularly so got quite engrossed for 5 mins.

Barely watch a shot these days but in other sports the fact of people just getting better and better seems really evident. Bigger, stronger, faster etc.  Since ya'll watch the game, if you set aside consistency as a factor, are the best players today any better than the best players 40 odd years ago. Hard to believe anyone can play better snooker than someone like Jimmy White on his day.
Pockets  are much smaller nowadays, century stats higher, quality of playing field deeper imo

Overall, players are streets ahead of players 40 years ago.

For instance, look at the average number of centuries per competition. A century break used to be something remarkable, now a player will make 3 in 5 frames.

Pockets being smaller is something I couldnt have imagined. Guess the century stats are a pretty good indicator

The 2nd semi-final is tonight @ 7pm. (Wilson v Higgins).

The Final is tomorrow (Sunday), two sessions, afternoon & evening.

ITV4 in both cases.

Pretty sure I've been whooshed here. Again.

No honest, I couldn't see it. Mainly because I was looking on the wrong channel.

Higgins. WTF? I've never seen a performance like it.

After winning 17 consecutive frames he missed a difficult red and Hendry said, "That's it, he's gone".  Cheesy

Can these two still be grinding out finals/wins/performances like this into their 50s?   I never thought they would still be doing this at 45 10 years ago.
