It's looking like a perfect storm for Konta now that Halep's gone.

It has got to be a good result, given how short Halep was.

There are two teenagers left in.  I watched Konta play Vondrousova in Italy and felt that Konta gave away the second set and was well ahead in the other two sets.  Having said that, Vondrousova has clearly strung some good results together and has been on fire this season.   I have seen a couple of Ashleigh Barty's games in France and she has played well in both, but I can't say I have seen much of Anismova.

I was considering laying off a small bit, but can't at the prices, as I think Konta looks a bit too big if anything for her semi(currently 1.78/1.79).    I might have another look later.  She is now into 5//2 on betfair for the French Open.

yuck.

Konta had a few chances to win that set, and failed, Vondrousova had just one.

Comditions are difficult.   It is clearly windy and drizzling a bit, so both players struggling a bit at times.

Managed to lay some off at less than 1/2 Konta.

bollocks

Vindousova just played exceptionally in that tie break.  The shot for 5-2 was exceptional, I was sure Konta's shot before was a winner.

I haven't got the stats, but Vondrousova was significantly ahead on the long rallies in that match.

There was a smash in the first set which Konta fluffed and then followed up with one that clipped the top of the net and dropped the wrong side.

She made a lot of unforced errors, but also hit moe winners.   Given how the long rallies went, I think she had to still keep going for it.   Just wasn't quite there today, and there wasn't much in it.   She did very well to get where she did.

It all hinged on her not closing that first set with the dry volley, and the other glaring unforced error. Very tough blow to take and she couldn't shake it off. There was a big performance change after that i thought. The backhand unforced errors were letting her down big time. If Konta closed that first set with the momentum she had all tournament, it wouldn't have been surprising had she steamrollered the second.

Konta is in at 11-1 4th favourite for wimbledon, surely that's too short

She us 15/17 6th favourite on betfair,  which feels about right.  You can pick holes in everyone above her too.  I have 50s anyway Cheesy
