Around the NFL should probably be your first stop, for me it's the best out there, just the right balance of humour and knowledge, Wess especially is brilliant

I enjoyed that he instinctively ran towards the posts. Can take the boy out of rugby...
He won't make the final 53 roster but he's protected for a year as part of the NFL deal for some international players. Has a shot at making it next year. Seems popular there. Remember that the guys playing in the 4th quarter are almost all on the roster bubble, so any successes at that point reflect well on everyone playing.

Don’t understand any of that or how things work there, so you are saying he has no real shot of playing in the ‘real team’ in the NFL this year?

That's right.
Final squad (roster) is 53 players, but the teams are allowed 10 more reserves on what's called a practice squad, which they can keep in case of major injuries. They currently have 90-odd players and slowly cut them down to 53 for the start of the season.
Wade is guaranteed a spot on the practice squad, as part of an international deal. He will be in Buffalo with the Bills all season but won't get to play.
He will be able to challenge for a roster spot next year, if he carries on and does well. The Bills have two big name running backs who likely won't be on the roster next year (one old and the other old and expensive), so there is an opportunity there for him.

If he has a few more good preseason games (last night was the first of 4), there is still a chance. But very much odds against at present.

It would be something special if he made the final 53. I still can't see it happening. Reports suggest he's still very raw at the game and a year on the practice squad will do him the world of good.

Any idea what he’ll be earning during all this?

If he makes the roster next year, that could be renegotiated, of course.

Him making the 53 would displace Marcus Murphy or Senorise Perry, so that gives you an idea of salary for a 4th choice RB.

Not too shabby given his current status I suppose. Probably more than Wasps we’re paying him for being a full contributor to their team.

The post game retirement interview is lump in throat viewing. He looks ill, says he is just tired of being in a cycle of being injured, rehab, being injured again and playing in pain etc. Sad to watch but kudos to him for getting out when it was getting him down. His own fans booed him off the field at the end, that feels like a perfect sign he has done the right thing tbh.
