That is a fair point Red-Dog- I shouldn't have taken the bait and opened the bidding.

I only did so as Mark commented on a youtuber pricing it at 500 EURO.

I think it's best if we all blame Marky147.

Oh well.... In for a penny...

This is how it should work.

Somone declares an interest in buying an item. I am also interested in buying said item but didn't know it was available or had not been first to declare an interest.

I don't say anything to the seller but I do ask the prospective buyer to let me know if he doesn't buy the item or alternately, how much he wants to stand down and let me try to buy it.

If he does buy the item, I ask him how much profit he wants on it.

It's old school stuff though, probably doesn't make much sense these days.

If a price cannot be agreed I would like to bid!

Will be a nice addition to my collection.

^^^^^

In my world this is called stepping on someone's toes and is much frowned upon.

this is not a criticism BTW, just an observation. It seems fine by Joe Public so who am I to judge.

Not really... Actually not at all. I stated that if a price cannot be agreed. Hence saying if Terry and Mark don't agree a price I would bid for it. it is hardly jumping to the front.

With respect, you made it known that there was another interested party which obviously affects the perceived value and weakens the original perspective buyer's bargaining position. You also revealed how much you were willing to pay before the first guy had any chance to negotiate a price.

I know I shouldn't comment, it's really nothing to do with me. I promise to try to keep my trap shut in future.

Raise Grin

In fairness, I wouldn't have sold it for £150, as the guy I'd spoken to with one, had said ~€500.

No offence taken
At the end of the day if Mark gets £250 for it then fair play to all involved
As far as value goes it is worth what people are willing to pay for it
The guy who said £500 was either dreaming or trying to con you into buying his

The watch is a £75 citizen eco with a pokerstars motif
The question is how much is that motif worth to somebody  To me I was willing to double the price of the watch and pay £150
I have seen a couple sell in the last year one for £90 one for £110 so my offer of £150 is a fair one in my opinion
I need a new watch but as much as I would like the pokerstars edition I cant justify paying £250 for a £75 watch

As long as both the buyer and seller are happy I can live with that

Good Luck at the tables

Surely the poker motif on it DECREASES it's value?

Funny you should say that

The Tag that was given to Scoop winners a couple of years ago comes up for sale every now and then for around £500  The most I have seen one go for is £650
The exact same model without the pokerstars motif sells for £900 all day

Good Luck at the tables

If anyone's got a crappy old Rolex with COMEX written on the dial I'll give you 50 quid for it.
