Has anyone been to casinos in Tunica on the Mississippi?

I have just bought tickets to the CMA Fest next year and going to be driving around Tennessee (and nearby) May/June (so thankfully no WSOP staking threads).  There seems to be a few casinos in Tunica and I am keen to understand how safe they may be and if they are actually any good.  Anyone who has done anything decent around that area I would also welcome ideas of stuff to do?

I have never been but there was quite a long discussion about Tunica at my table.   The gist of it was that there were casinos and f all else there.  Of course you can get beers, food and casino entertainment.   Think it is fine if that is all you want.  Can't recall anyone saying anything about it been unsafe.

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots

Thanks Doobs, it is only a couple of days likely (its 45 mins from Memphis) so Gambling, drinking, food and tacky shows (if possible) are all I really want.  I seem to be able to get comped at the Horseshoe, so that helps

I stayed at Gold Strike and wouldn't recommend it. Poker fine there during festivals but pick a different hotel imo.

Thanks guys, I am looking at the Horseshoe but likely only two nights so quality less important.

Graceland is definitely happening, we are doing a week of driving so will tick a few off. Just can’t do a fortnight without a casino....
