i was just making the point that i always understood the essence of blonde was that no-one was discriminated against, be it age, sex, creed, colour, physical disability or species........

I know blonde hasnt organised it - i just disagree that in this age there are still tournaments out there that discriminate against groups. I know its a very contentious issue but if someone were to organise a tournament that only male Caucasians could play in there would be uproar - i dont see why this should be treated any differently.
No doubt this is someones (probably male) idea of a "new gimmick" to try and cash in on the poker boom and IMHO i think it stinks!!

Eeek, we are getting het up here.
Here's the deal.
We were contacted by the organisers of the Ladies Event, "would blonde like to participate/get involved/enter someone/run a sat for it?"
Why not, we thought? Maybe, we reasoned, some Ladies might like the idea. We never examined it in depth from a PC angle, & do not see a need to.
We considered - as it's a televised thing - entering, say, Jen & Rhow. They are both shareholders in blonde, work damn hard for little recompense, and if they made the Final, blonde get huge exposure, worth far more than the cost of the entry.
But I felt that was wrong, & the Lady blondes might feel "hey, what about us?".
So we reverted to Plan B. Have a satellite, so all the Lady blondes had an equal chance. We knew it would cost us plenty - we have NO chance of sufficient Lady blonde Members signing up to cover the entry fee. But we decided to do it anyway, & if a blonde Lady made the Final, the TV exposure of blonde would more than pay for the shortfall on the entry fee.
The PC "Ladies ONLY" thing. Never crossed our minds, &, in all honesty, & I don't think it needed to. In the grand scheme of things, in a world full of some pretty depressing things - drought in Somalia, Police Office being shot, abandoned babies, da de da de da, the issue of whether it's sexist to run a Ladies Comp ranks fairly low. And if someone insists on playing the sexist PC card, well, whenever a pic of a young lady is put up, or a new Lady member joins & we all give it the chat-up bit, or the term "norkage" is Posted & everyone jumps on the "more norkage" bandwagon, do you want us to ban all that stuff, Because THATS sexist, too? Course you don't. It's the same thing, you can't have your cake & eat it.
Lets keep a sense of perspective here. It's not that big a deal.
Now, come on Ladies, get signed up. Every sign up reduces our exposure to loss, & you have a real chance of making serious money here.
Now, how's the weather where you are?

Bright and sunny and getting better as going home in 35 mins and then off till 27th Feb.
For the record I won't be signing up for this as I can't afford the $33, I would never for one minute expect to win it, and I could not get the time off work if by some miracle I did.
Damn good luck to everyone who does partake.

Oh yeah I forgot to add - 19th March is start of motocross season and BOTH of my two are racing this year.
God help my nerves and the NHS resources..
So that's no BB2 for me, No P4C Birthday Party and no partaking in Ladies Only competitions.
Am I down? Am I buggery I can't wait for the season to start.

Same weekend as BB2?
Chances are, we will have to turn away a lot of applicants, so the clash of dates is less relevant.
And despite the possible attraction of BB2, the winner of the Ladies Event is gonna pick up some serious money - REAL serious.
