I'm not fussed about reading others, but I thought it would be a good idea so in a year or so I can reflect on how I've improved (or not)

ok, so keeping records, track of tourneys and personal notes i agree with - i do that myself.
But publishing it for the whole world to see - thats the bit i dont understand.

am i the only blondite who doesnt have a blog? I never realized it was a requisit when joining - maybe my jungle application is different to everyone elses
Ok, as a non-blog monkey will someone please explain what the fascination is in keeping one? I will post thoughts and opinions on forums but why on earth would people be fascinated by the day to day exploits of someone you hardly know?
maybe this stems from me not being a fan of things like reality tv shows? or am i just "not with the times"?
I dunno, i always intend to keep mine going but never do!! I am just too lazy, maybe if when i am bored i wrote it instead of playing the random PM game i wouldnt have these issues!

I prefer the diary posts that people have on this board. Really liked Sunday's CPC one, if I can sort out a laptop, I'll do one while I'm in Vegas.

I enjoy doing a blog because i love writing and something like this keeps me focused and keeps me on track. Im losing my discipline a lot of late and need something to take my mind of things and release a bit of tension here and there!!

My thoughts on the benefit of keeping a blog.
Poker is, by it's very nature, a form of gambling.
As with all gambling, there is a danger that you start to delude yourself when things start going wrong. Tilt can crop up and hang around for a long period of time. During this time it can be easy to piss away one's entire bankroll. The nature of compulsive gambling is that you'll almost enjoy doing this. The human mind can be somewhat masochistic when it goes off kilter.
Regular self-examination is a great way to avoid this. To that end, putting your thoughts down in writing can be a good idea.
Why not just write for yourself then, why publish your efforts in a blog for the world to see. Whell, it would be easy to stop writing when things take a turn for the worse at the tables. Looking at yourself and realising that your run of bad "form" is perhaps because you're not as good as you think you are, can be too much for your psyche to handle. Having a "public" to keep happy, even if it's just one person, puts pressure on you to keep your blog going during the bad times (when self-examination is most needed)
This is one of the reasons I feel the 4,000 STT thread had greatly benefited me.

Well, I feel a bit guilty that my first blonde post is kind of promoting my own poker blog, but what the hell. I have to start somewhere, don't I? There's a link to my blog in my signature at the bottom if anyone wants to take a look. And seeing as how I haven't completed all my answers to the Blondeite profile questions yet (some of them need a bit of thought actually), I might as well tell you all a little bit about myself while I'm at it.
I suppose I'm a bit of an oddity in poker terms these days, because I spend most of my time playing less fashionable games like fixed limit hold'em, split pot games, and stud (even razz ocassionally!) rather than concentrating on no-limit hold'em tournament play. I just like the idea of being a bit of an all-rounder and playing a tiny part in trying to keep the traditional forms of the game alive too.
Having said that though, I did win a no-limit hold'em tournament on Poker Stars last week which was set up and attended by celebrity poker blogger <start shameless name drop>Wil Wheaton<end shameless name drop> (formerly Star Trek's Wesley Crusher, no less). It was all a bit surreal playing against American poker bloggers and a celebrity actor, especially when I tried to explain to them that I was from a small town in Wales while simultaneously playing heads-up at the end, so it's good to make the acquaintance of some British poker bloggers (and non-bloggers too, of course).
Okay, I'm going to stop now because you'll all think I'm mental.
Nice to be here anyway folks, and thanks for having me!

Tank I couldn't agree more. My blog has been running for eleven months now, I started it at the same time I commenced playing poker full-time and it has definitely helped me through the rough patches, and perhaps contributed to me analysing the game more and become a better player. I updated it yesterday, the address is in my profile.......
