(details are here if anyone cares: http://www.paradisepoker.com/promotions/2005/million_freeroll/)

I got sent this in an email today and thought the payout structure was rather interesting:

1st: $1million
2nd-10th: $10,000

All I can think of is: How gutted would you be to finish second? Especially if it was through bad luck, it's the type of beat that can cause serious emotional issues. (like the guy who topped himself because his numbers camme up on the lottery but he'd forgotten to buy a ticket)

Surely they should have a bigger responsibilty to players well being rather than to their marketing?

Ten way deal anyone?

I imagine deals will be banned.

Actually just checked and:

Quote
Player represents and warrants that Player has not entered into, and will not enter into, any understanding or agreement (whether verbal or written) with any other player at the Final Table with respect to the outcome of the Final Table or the division of any prize money between players at the Final Table, and Player further acknowledges that it is a violation of Final Table rules to enter into any such understanding or agreement.

Now this is one time where you can't moan about that as PP are putting up all the cash.

Seems there are 3 heats a day with a max of 4000 entrants and 60 going through to the final.

So lots will be in final, hence:

Quote
Note: Given the number of entries, this tournament will be played over 2 days (August 27th and 28th). Play will start at 2pm Eastern and will continue until Midnight Eastern (5am London) at which time the tournament will be paused at the beginning of the next break. Play will resume on Sunday, August 28th at 2pm EDT and will continue until only 10 players remain.

edit: Is that a first? A 2 day online event?

Well there's 60 qualifiers per day, and I think it's about 56 days of heats, so that's about 3360 players.

I recommend anyone trying in the heats to go for the 6am start one, most free entries and least number of runners (well compared to yesterdays lists: - 998 at 6am - 30 entries, 1351 at 2am - 20 Entries, 2371 at 9pm - 10 entries.

I don't mind $10,00 for 2nd to 10th as it stops those that just sit there trying to stay in to win more.

I am taking part in this tonight in the final and there are 3990 players at the moment. I have my passport and trunks ready for the final.
