its a tricky one ,going all in on 99 is very risky especially when you have a raise and a call in front of you, this would probably suggest you are against at least 3 over cards rather than 2. but on the other hand it was only a double the blind raise were you hoping that they would put there hand down??

Retrospectively, apart from the BB who held the jacks. I felt I was ahead. The blinds were about to go up to 75-150 and there's already 700 chips in the pot and I've only got 1750. I hoped at the worst, I'd be heads up versus either the original raiser or caller and felt I'd be ahead at that point. Minimun raises are always tricky, but I felt the person making the raise was just trying to dissuade rags from coming for a cheap flop, or he was pot buiding with suited connectors or a small pair.

Personally I don't like the play. Your betting all-in and risking your tourny life with nothing more than a mid pair with 3 people still to act plus the two players who are already committed for 200. With 5 players to act after you are only going to get callers with big hands (either an over pair or two over cards). I know Auntedith reraised with his 88 but I think this was a really bad play.

I understand you may have been hoping to win the pot at that stage but with 5 people to act there is always a chance that somebody may be holding a big hand.
You also didn't really have to make a move at that stage as your stack in relation to the blinds means that you still have plenty of time to wait for a better position than going all-in with your 99 and getting a possible caller. You state that if it went heads up you felt you would would be ahead. Maybe but even if that was the case you would only be a slight favourite and basically gambling your tourny on a 50/50 shot. As I've already said you had enough chips to to wait for a better than a 50/50 or slight favorite shot.

I'm afraid I'm with Diceman. The AK minimum raise is poor, making the 8,8 call reasonable. your all-in raise is recless and unneccassary. with blinds still to speak you could well be getting nice 3/1 or 4/1 odds with your middle pair. once you've gone all in, the hand goes mental. JJ all in after your bet is daft, the RR by AK is not great, could reasonably expect you or THEDUKE to have AA or KK. the 8,8 is looking at massive value now and is probably commited.

You were nearly right, you got lucky in a pot you shouldn't have been trapped in.

Dodgy play from everyone, but it worked out perfectly for you didn't it?!?!

Mind you, it does have the feel of one of those online hands "designed" to speed up to the end of the tournament Roll Eyes Wink
