I think you should work for the BBC, Nemesis. You could be their stats man.. Yea, Collins was a top class fighter. Do you think he was the best, nemesis? or is he only the best on paper?

Out of the UK SM'S I thought Eubank in his prime (89-93) was the best, but they all were very good. Watson, Benn, Collins, + Malinga and James Toney. However, IMO the best Super Middleweight has to be Roy Jones JR (88-97). He would have beaten any of the boxers I've mentioned in their prime.

I enjoy boxing and watch as often as I can but I follow MMA (mixed martial arts) much closer. after Mike Tysons release from prison and the subsequent difficulty he had getting a top fight there was rumour of him stepping in the cage. I wondered how the resident boxing fanatics think top boxers would get on in the octogan?

some have successfully moved from martial arts to boxing(although I think of boxing as a martial art, and a formidable one at that) . Matt Skelton for example had dozens of Thai bouts before turning to pro boxing. Julius Francis also was a British and common wealth full contact kickboxer. It must surely be possible to go the other direction. A boxer would need a whole new bag of tricks and they'd have to retract the lead leg about a foot but it could be done. Most serious martial artists these days include Boxing training. there are still some old fashioned 'purists' about but it's all about cross training and boxers train harder than anyone else.
The guys at the top of the boxing tree wouldnt do it because the gap in money is so good but your journeyman boxers could earn a lot more money in MMA
