Prewie: ?

Firstly, its a steal raise pre flop...i find the players in these are squeaky tight and there are chips to be won by raising a lot early doors

Secondly, I called his check raise because I am seeing more and more of people reading a bet by a pre flop raiser here as a continuation and thinking the check raise will push then off, usually it does

On the blank turn, do you want to call after his push?

I am two tabling, and can fire up another immediately....

No, no and I don't like trying to steal 30 chips either. QT a possibility? Easy fold for me, if he does this a few more times then you know he's a bluffer, ATM you should be going along with the tight players at this level generalisation.

All IMHO.

I think you have shown strength in the hand and his all in bet is designed to look like a bluff. I think he has a set and i would fold here in a cash game.

At such an early stage in a tournament i would not like to be in such a marginal position and would still be happy with a fold even if he then turned his cards over to show a bluff.

I dont really like the play preflop. Chip values aren't linear, as a base level if you manage to double up your stack on the first hand, your Tournament equity has only increased by 0.9, rather then 1. This is why stealing small blinds arent really worth it. You gain next to nothing when it is succesful, but you are damaging your stack and ultimately your leverage the times it fails.

As for the hand itself, I dont really know. Cr on flop and then overbet jam on the turn isn't normally a line of strength in these things, but sngs arent about accumulation, they are about survival. MTT's are much different. I think you can find a fold here, although I wouldnt be overly surprised if he had something like 9J/AJ/KJhh.

I know this wasn't much help, but I play my SNG's like a machine.. and reserve actually playing proper poker to cash games.. so I dont get in this situation very often.

of course, all this is just my opinion, and in no way represents an assertion of fact. Smiley

fold. to many hands beat you and you still have a decent stack to play with if you fold. If he is bluffing you, he probably will again when you have got enough to call him.

I think you are ahead but he probably has a flush and straight draw, KJ hearts. small pot poker in these stts at the start, i always aim to keep it that way unless i have the goods. Personally i would have limped, as when you get called and someone starts firing at you when you have top pair you just don't know where you stand. I hate laying down to a re raise early on as it sets you out as folder to the better players at the table and you are likely to find people taking a pop at you kore than you would like.

I made a horrible call I thought

as I said, i am making far fewer continuation bets in these because am getting check raised a lot by people countering "Harrington" type play

so when he overbet the turn I thought the chances were I was ahead....could have been very wrong, but the characteristics of these are that I had a good chance of being right

I've noticed a LOT more check-raising in the last few weeks, especially on Stars.
