And so, to Part Two of why I've been AWOL.
All this needs to be read in the context of my earlier Post, obviously.
First, I need to go back a while, to a promise I made myself. I wanted to play more Poker - don't we all? - but all my time was devoted to blonde, & some outside interests - TV work, Live Updating, writing articles for mags & the like, my work with William Hill, Poker 425 & Sporting Odds.com. When I retired, I promised myself I'd spend the rest of my life having fun. Wen, my "live round the corner Partner", & I seperated in October 2004, after 11 blissfully happy years, & my painkiller was blonde, to which I gave my all.
But over Christmas this year, which was a bad time for me, I decided I needed to get the balance of my life a little more rounded. By chance, there was an Online Fessie over Crimble, on Blue Square, slow clocks, big buy-iins, sensible starting chips, & although I had never made any money in online multis previously, but earned extremely well in SNG's on Stars (up to the end of 2004) I did surprise myslf in the Blue Square Fessie, cashing twice from three as I recall. So I resolved to play more online Multis. Then I got 2nd in a SO.com jobbie, & started doing quite nicely in the $100 & $200 Freezeouits on Blue Square each night. Tom (Red-Dog) who's a special friend over & above our blonde relationship, had been nagging me to play Laddies, "they have some good comps" he kept telling me.
Now, I tend to be away from home roughly 50% of my life, but when I am at home, I decided to play more Multis, like a daily routine, the Laddies $250 Freeze each afternoon, the two Blue Square Freezes each evening ($100 & $200) , the Wm Hill (Crypto) Freeze when I remembered, & the $300 Freeze on SO.com. (Which then got cancelled due to lack of interest). So the week or two pre-Vienna, that became the routine, plus everything else, but it was becoming a problem to fit it all in! But I stuck to where the profit (a very handy profit, too) was coming from - the Laddies Freeze, & the Blue Square Freezes. And I intend to continue to play online Comps, come what may. The comps may change, the sites may change, buit I'm gonna spend a certain % of my time playing online Multis, & will just have to try & squeeze everything else in somehow. Die quietly? Forget THAT!
Parallel to that......
We made the decision a while back to Upgrade the blonde Server, but finding the right window of time was a nightmare, not to mention the damn money it cost. But we did it, 10 days or so ago, & I'm delighted with the speed we seem to have now.
And parallel to THAT.....
Our Site Re-Launch - well, it's been in the offing since the Tony G days, it's been a bloody NIGHTMARE. I'm not actually involved in the real work of doing it - thats the Techy Guys, & snoops is in charge of the migration of all the material - which involves a shed-load of work, ably assisted by Jen, Aaron, Rhow, & to a very small extenmt, me. But getting the look & feel of the new site right was ardous - colour, navigation, what to put where, a million questions, & various peeps to consult. Then the Launch Date - what a story that was. We encountered some "slippage", & that in turn caused, well, some "friction" shall we say. Never again......But we are ready to roll now - almost - & it WILL hapen on the due date.
And parallel to THAT......
I cut a pretty complex deal, complex in that it seemed to involve heaps of e-mails, (& still does, maybe a dozen a day) & a whole load of time. I can't divulge it right now, for commercial reasons, but hopefully, in a day or two, I will be able to spill the beans. But it's good for blonde, & I'll tell you everything, honestly & openly, as I always do.
And parallel to THAT.....
The Cardroom. I believe there ae threads explaining/discussing this, so I'll not comment further in this threrad on that subject. But talk about cause me grief........This week has been, I freely admit, th worst time I have ever had on blonde. By a country mile. You cannot begin to imagine how much stuff it involves sorting out. Dave did all the spadework, kudos to him, but even my little bit, well, let's not even go there.
Then there's teluing everyone what we've done, why, how & where. This is the start of that, but only a small part of it.
On top of that little lot, I'm on a serious - & do mean serious - diet. I do eveything full-on, & I've lost more than 2 stone since Cardiff - that's what, 5 weeks? But it comes with a price. Food is energy, no food is no energy, 'nuff said, I'm wrecked. But the diet will be finished in another month. Glory be.
Excuses? I'm your man.
But it's good to be back.
xx
