We checked into the Orleans at around 4pm Vegas time on Sunday, had a few hours sleep and then went to check out the Rio and see what all the fuss was about. When you first enter the main room at the Rio it is overwhelming, the pictures from TV dont do it justice, the place is huge. We pick up our Main Event tickets, get aquantied with the facilities, have a few beers and head back to bed to try and overcome the jet-lag asap. We go back to the Rio on Monday lunchtime and register for Tuesday's $1,500 event and then decide to play some cash games. We both sit in different 5/10NL games for several hours then meet up for dinner. We discuss hands and trade stories and come to the general consensus that it is fishy as fcuk! Another couple of hours later we call it a night, both showing a small profit which could have been a lot more if it wasnt for some bad beats, but I dont want my first blog to become a bad beat section so we'll leave it at that.
Tuesday (today) arrives and we head to the Rio, full of optimism for our first ever WSOP tournament at noon. We take the wrong shuttle from our hotel and end up at Ceasar's Palace and have to walk to the Rio. 20 minutes and 10 buckets of sweat later we are ready to play. I was happy in the way I played the tournament and my exit hand was documented in the live updates thread. I did get very lucky in the 100-200 level when I got my 10bb stack in preflop with K-K vs A-A, only to spike a King and double up. It was blind on blind so I'm never putting that down to be honest! Anyway, am now back in the hotel, have had several beers and been watching 24 on DVD, so life is good again lol. My next tournament will be the $5k 6-handed event on Thursday, with tomorrow being a combination of online play/explore the strip/live cash games.
