2012 from space Mr Kendall
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-20214931
Thank you Mr Dempsey.
That photo of the Olympic Park is amongst the best I have seen, perfectly capturing the sheer scale of the thing. Little has been made of it, but that Park, despite Government involvement, was an incredible task of Civil Engineering & Building, & was completed well within some very optimistic timelines. The Park alone was pivotal in the success of the Games.
PS - Just remembered I owe you a PM reply. Will do today.
PPS - As a nominee in "Spammer of the Year" Caregory, as I am every year, & quite right too, I have to ask, how is the new Poker deal working out, when will we see some action?
Would you believe me if i told you that when i first met with them in the WSOP one of the tag lines they were throwing about was "learn and chat with the pros" a bit close to a previous pokersite i thought...
I would, actually.
What is the timescale of IP opening up, & what form will it take? I'm assuming a skin (but of whom?) with an attached training & "social" site, perhaps a Forum, too.
PS - Happy New Year. Pleased to hear you plan to splash less cash around!
PPS - Whoops, better send that PM reply. See you soon, hopefully.

Tikay
Just wanted to wish you seasons greetings and all the best for 2013.
I couldn't make Luton SPT but hopefully see you soon.
Matt
Thank you.
How good was Vegas this year?
To have you out there with the lads, owning the Tourneys around town, was wonderful. Seem to recall you won or chopped several at The Rio.
Happy new year Matt.

We need these "ahh, ain't they cute?" photos to balance out all the grim stuff Carl.

Hah!
We shall see. I'm not entirely sure I'll be in Vegas this year, but you never know.
Can still barely believe I ran so well in so many Tourneys. Lovely, lovely memories.
Can still picture you in that bandana..........

Bugger!
Corrected now.
To be pedantic, it was a typo, not a spello.
I find it almost impossible to construct a post these days without a few mistypes, & I'm usually too rushed/lazy to correct them.
It irritates me to death that I keep doing it, too. I'm pretty sure some bits are coming loose upstairs.

William Rees-Mogg, aka Lord Rees-Mogg, passed away yesterday.
An extraordinary man with a "towering intellect" as so many of the Obits said.
He came to prominence in my little orbit after Jagger & Richards were sent to prison for the infamous drugs bust at Richard's home in Sussex, Redlands. It was, at the time a
cause celebre
.
Rees-Mogg famously ran a headline about it in The Times saying "who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" originally penned centuries earlier. It was a very anti-establishment thing for a stuff right-wing newspaper to write. Even now, it is hard to imagine that within 4 decades, Mick Jagger would be Knighted.
He turned The Times into one of only a handful quality daily newspapers in Great Britain. (The others are, imo of course, The Telegraph, Yorkshire Post, & The Scotsman, a sister title to The Times I believe).
He left The Times when Murdoch arrived, & was very rude indeed about Murdoch, but he later changed his mind & returned to work for Murdoch. The obits included very generous praise from Murdoch.
One obit described him as "the closest a journalist can get to being a gentleman".
He lived most splendidly in Somerset for most of his life, at a thoroughly splendid pile called Roan Easton Hall. (Now an Hotel).

I remember he bought the antiquarian booksellers Pickering & Chatto in New Bond Street back in the 80s. A fine establishment of tradition & refinement, it fitted with his passion for rare books & history.
Sad passing. The last of the old thunderers.
Happy New Year Tikay. Health & Happiness.

I've just realised something.
You have nearly 60,000 posts and I have probably read well over half of them.
And I have no idea which way you lean politically.
If forced to have a bet, I know which side I'd go for.
But I wouldn't be particularly confident.
That's pretty impressive fence sitting by you..
was this your way of answering Keiths post Tikay?
