Thank you Mr Dempsey.

That photo of the Olympic Park is amongst the best I have seen, perfectly capturing the sheer scale of the thing. Little has been made of it, but that Park, despite Government involvement, was an incredible task of Civil Engineering & Building, & was completed well within some very optimistic timelines. The Park alone was pivotal in the success of the Games.

PS - Just remembered I owe you a PM reply. Will do today.

PPS - As a nominee in "Spammer of the Year" Caregory, as I am every year, & quite right too, I have to ask, how is the new Poker deal working out, when will we see some action?

Reuters Best photos of the year.

http://blogs.reuters.com/fullfocus/2012/11/30/best-photos-of-the-year-2012/#a=1

The photographers also give a detailed explanation behind each photograph which I found interesting.

Thanks Craig, some lovely stuff there.

Hope you enjoyed Xmas at home, & good luck with the new job when you return to India.

Seems such a shame that the vast majority of all these pictoral "highlights" of 2012 are fighting, death, destruction and misery.

Morning Aaron.

Part of the appeal (to me) of these annual photo galleries is exactly that, they are a reality check.

If I find time, I'll try & Post a few examples which show how we in GB live in a different world to so many.

I saw a photo somewhere of displaced & homeless folks in Syria, having to walk 10 miles or more, queuing for hours in sub-zero temperatures, to buy that most basic of daily necesseties - milk - for their families.  My local Tesco is exactly half a mile distant, I would never dream of walking, & I was chuntering to myself just before Xmas because there were no car parking spaces available.

There was a photo of some kids - may have been in Indonesia, not sure - crossing a damaged rope bridge over a river below. This was their daily journey to school, & it never occurred to them to use it as an excuse to have time off school. Heaven knows what H & S would make of it here in the UK.

Different world, or what?

Well done Carl, EXACTLY the one I was thinking of.

Extraordinary photo, says so much.

Imagine that in GB......

I'm actually interested to know if blondes would allow their children to go to school by such means. Ideally, of course not, but assume we don't live in an ideal world.

Just shown it to my son and explained the context. His jaw dropped!

Morning Mr T. The rugby one made me glad I don't play anymore, it looked so cold and miserable. I am a bit like Aaron in that yet another photo of men with guns does nothing for me. I did however gaze in awe at the photos of the leopard attacking the man and the polar bear climbing down the cliff to try and get birds eggs.

Would you believe me if i told you that when i first met with them in the WSOP one of the tag lines they were throwing about was "learn and chat with the pros" a bit close to a previous pokersite i thought...

Thanks Heathrow Chap.

I often go & stand opposite Hatton Cross Underground Station, in the BP/M&S Garage, they are incredibly low at that point, just a few hundred feet from landing, & watch the planes come into land, it's just amazing how they follow each other in nose to tail, all day long. In fact, that is where I do all my aircraft photography.

As to the crash in Russia, that was the SECOND crash by a 'plane in the "Red Wings" Fleet in 9 days I believe, the previous one was due to brake failure I believe.

Fortunately, this one was on ferry duties, & "only" had 8 people on board, all employees, of whom 5 perished.

As always when these dreadful events happen, the Forum (PPRuNe) that Flushy wised me up to some years ago is the place to go to see what is what, & they cover this crash in typical style.....

http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/503923-aircraft-crash-moscow.html

Must be said, I love that Forum.
