C.J. Sansom, the Scottish author of the psychologically complex mystery novels about Matthew Shardlake, a hunchbacked lawyer turned investigator navigating political intrigue during the Tudor era has passed aged 71 from multiple myeloma.

He died a few days before part 1 of the first book Dissolution under the title Shardlake is premiered on Disney+ on Wednesday 1st May

As a Shardlake fan it will be interesting to see how the dramatisation pans out.

R.I.P Chris, your many fans & the literary world will surely miss you.

Very sad to see that Richard Tandy has died. He was 76.

He'd worked with Jeff Lynne for around 50 years, though with a break when the original ELO split up. He's maybe best remembered for his contribution on Mr Blue Sky but in truth he was Lynne's right hand man.

Apparently he joined ELO when Roy Wood left. How about that for a memory, Roy Wood, jeez.

R.I.P Richard.

He must have played with them when I saw them years ago and I never knew.

As for Roy Wood, my main memory from ELO was Bev Bevan as I had a mate who had a crush on him. He left after a fall out with Jeff Lynne & I guess you don't stay if you do that.

Jeepers, I think I'm catching up to Tony even faster now!

Pretty sure Bev Bevan was part of "The Move". And Roy Wood became Wizard, & had a huge Christmas hit every year.  Oh I wish it could be Christmas every day, tra la la-la la la la. He must have made a fortune out of that song.

Bev fell out with Jeff, Bev formed "ELO Part II", while Lynne formed "Jeff Lynne's ELO". Bet there were lawsuits galore.

Steve Albini, producer of too many iconic albums to mention.

"Seamonsters" by The Wedding Present is the first one that springs to mind, but most would probably know him from his work with Nirvana.

Just seen someone describe this as "Princess Diana for 6 Music Dads."

Steve Albini also holder of two WSOP bracelets won in recent years, One in 7 card Stud and one in HORSE. By all accounts a very good mixed games player. Was a regular poster on twoplustwo. I got to play with him for a couple of hours a while back which was quite a thrill as he made some of my favourite albums like PJ Harvey's Rid of Me, In Utero by Nirvana and Pixies.

Pretty sad about this one.

Pretty sad about this one.

Always wanted to sit at his table, will never get the chance.

Think In Utero got a bit remixed, and Rid of Me got released as the 4 track demos, as she wasn't entirely happy.

Loved the first two pixies albums, rid of me and pod regardless.  All released at the time I really loved that sort of thing.

Think everyone should listen to Rub Til it Bleeds as that is classic Albini.  Don't care if she didn't like it, and Elvis Costello said he ruined it.  The way you hear the instruments is still brilliant to this day.
