Hi Smurf

Yes we changed to 5k + 5k reload then a 10k add on
We felt this worked well in the mega so extended it to the weekly.

I hope the tourney plays out better with this format and we will monitor the results.

Cheers Nick

cheers....bubbled in tonights and felt it was unfair to those with smaller bankrolls that the add on was twice the starting stack but it must work for you as there were 2 seats created and 150 euro for 3rd .

no doubt i will still have another go later in the week.   ;whistle;

Hi All,

Qualified for Feb's d/s online last night!  Couldn't not after January's was so enjoyable. Question though... xan't see anywhere in the poker client where it shows that I've won a seat.  Do I just turn up and speak to the cash desk?  Do I need to sync my online account and my DTD membership card?

Cheers

Dan (dtm75)

Congrats

Yeah the seat won't show in your account but the email will ask you to select a day 1. If it's anything like January I will probably be in contact before the event to ensure players are entered before they arrive to save you queuing!!

The benefits of being a satelitte winner ;)

Two genuine questions if someone (anyone) can answer for me please....

1)  I am a member of DTD and would like to attempt the sats on line for the FEB £150k. I do not have an online account though. Do I need to set one up or can I just use my membership card somehow to save me going through all my details?

2) Are there any freeze out sats or are they all rebuy/add on ones?

you need to open an online account, set it up and obviously play. www.dtdpoker.com or click a banner on here

all rebuy/add on sats...the week before the event usually has a number of mega sats. Last month had 80 seats GTD in the final week before the event

see http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/satellites/300-deepstack for current satellites

Hey

Is this Tikay? ;)

You will need to set up an online account. Unfortunately the club membership card is just that, it will gain you access to the club only but not online I'm afraid. You will need to download the poker software, create an account and deposit through the cashier.

For the £300 Deepstack the feeder satellites are rebuys however the satellite final is a + 1 Reload which means you are limited to one reload. We do ocassionally run freezeout satellites so they are not all rebuys :)

Cheers Nicola

Players: Pretty interesting especially if you live away from DTD isn't it?

Play the Online and save a lot of expenses by getting direct to Day 2 and if not an immediate cash, near the cash for the Sunday?

We really would like to get to a stage where we bring all day 2 players back Sunday and there all in the money.
See how this month goes with 16 levels on 1a

Comments appreciated

Only comment would be to keep a close eye on the number of hands played.

Pretty sure you could bring the online clock down a touch and still be comparable.

I personally don't fancy playing 5 hours and 20 minutes online + 25 minutes of breaks just to reach a day 2. That's going to be a 1:45am finish on a school night.

If you can knock 5 minutes off the clock and drop it to 4 hours thus finishing at 12:15 with an 8 o'clock start I'm sure it would appeal much more to people who have to be up for work in the morning.

Obviously if it brings the hands down too much then it wouldn't be fair but I can't see you only playing 2x the number of hands online compared to live.

Nice idea and I'll almost definitely join in if the clock gets tweaked at some point.

I like this idea a lot and trying to make day 2 players in the cash if that happens further down the line aswell.
Played a lot less this month already but if online day 1a's are something extra going forward I can see myself having a few goes as the year goes on and saving the 100 mile round trip

You can re-enter into any (or both) of the Live Day 1b and Day 1c in the the Club, however in reality, I doubt whether this will happen often, as in the past, only 10-15% of the Friday Day 1a field re-enter into Saturday Day 1b.

We have added an extra level of play into the Day 1's and also changed Sundays starting time to 1pm, we hope this will give players an earlier finish. If players want an even earlier finish, we can take away/reduce the 60 minute clock on the final table (any comments on this would be helpful). We have also reduced the breaks, although we do need to be mindful of our dealers getting enuf rest. This gets us very close to the money for all Day 2 players , starts the final earlier and finishes the event at a more social time for those at work on Monday morning.

The Online Day 1a has been added as an experiment to reduce our regular Deepstack players costs of hotels and travel, which can be sizable if you play every month, we have talked about doing this for the last 12 months but issues with our online poker software have delayed the Online Day 1a trial. We will monitor how the online 20 min clock plays as online hands/hr are significantly higher than live, so this can be adjusted down to 15 mins (or whatever) if that is appropriate. Apart from the clock, the Online Day 1a works exactly the same as the live one, same blinds and antes, same levels, all remaining players after 16 levels take their chip stacks through to Sunday Day 2.

Cheers Aces

Hi Simon,
If we somehow are left with lets say 5k chips after the online game, fail to get rid of them...
There is no way people will travel 200 miles on Sunday with that stack, are we able to forfeit the stack and try again live?

Hi

Unfortunately there is no option to forfeit the online stack even if it is really low, we have to have the same ruling for all players regardless of stack.

Players don't have to attend on day 2 if they don't feel their stack is playable, chips will be in play and get blinded away. In some cases you may have already made the money.

You will play 16 levels online, same as live, so you will know when the end of day 1 is approaching and will have the choice to try and increase your chips before the end of play. If it was playing to top 10% for example this would be harder for you to manage.

Cheers Nicola

you'd play the online, and then not the live?

or have a crack at both if you had to?

ballpark, what would making it through 1a and turning up for day 2 already in the cash save you in exes?

It'd still be worth coming to Notts even if you bust first hand.

Assuming it's similar to January there's going to be a £100 reload with a 10k first prize up for grabs starting at 2 o'clock or so.

I agree though that the option to forfeit your stack would be a very good idea. Perhaps leaving it on the table as an anonymous player so as not to disrupt the chip counts would work?

I wouldn't like to see them removed but if it's left there to blind away I really can't see the issue as long as the option's available to everyone.

In direct money terms it saves me around £60-£70 in hotel and food and a small amount of petrol to get me from DTD to wherever I'm staying.
In-directly, it saves me a 'passout' for a day away from home which I can use another time. I can't get away for every deepstack, when I do play one I commit the full weekend and will always play something on Sunday whether I make Day2 or not. (this may be a downside depending on how I run)
Travelling knowing that I've min-cashed would obviously be more appealing than driving down to grind a 10-20BB stack.

Would I try the on-line and still travel for Day 1c on Saturday if i failed? Some months yes, some no. The appeal of 'being there' is huge on big weekends at DTD. I wouldn't have missed the January DS weekend for the world, but the fact remains that for me, the cost of travelling alone is a minimum of £120 in fuel, food and accommodation. So for a 'normal' event the opportunity to make Day2 from the comfort of my sofa on Thursday night and to know that I've covered the cost of the weekend before I set off is a big plus.

Hope the rake and the blackjack take don't go down too much for DTD to keep offering this.

Brilliant idea.

I probably shouldn't, given my skill-level and therefore likeliness to be on the final table, comment on the final table clock, however, wouldn't it always be best to offer the longest feasible clock for a tournament of this nature? The extra three hours at the front-end should facilitate the 60 min clock.

My only other comment would be, for the deepstacks and other 2 day events/festivals, to open the club 60 mins before the tournament starts, to allow the numbers to register/get through the door and take a bathroom break before having to start.

In response to opening the doors earlier, we are currently working on getting more players entered into the live day 1s before we open the doors to reduce the queues, this will help with some players having played online for day 1A, plus we will have all sat winners entered so they wouldn't need to queue, and more DBIs buying in in advance. Hope to have this in practice for Feb's Deepstack, save on queue size :)

Yes satellites will be the same and if players wish to play online day 1 they can just email me and i will enter them :) Will probably do a big call round and ask players which day they want to play as it may have changed since they won their seat.

When will the next grand prix be?

also what format will it be in?

would you ever do the grand prix where top 10% qualify online and auto cash for the live tourney and start with 15k stacks again?

Brilliant. Expect this to increase field size and work well. Think youll find the twenty mins clock too generous though when analysing hands played. Probs get away with 12-15 mins.

Def agree with this. 0% chance online is only double the speed of live, even on boss.

If I play that weekend it is very unlikely I will online as I am absolute crap online & I think the players chipstacks from 1A will be a lot lower than 1B and 1C. Hopefully proved wrong of course.

Although a few questions

- £200k it made, but only first prize of £44k, should really be £50k? considering and a few players said the same. I think a few too many players was paid out last and structure really is flat. But of course £44k is a nice payday, but when I played the last one I expected at least to be seeing £50k first prize. Will there be any changes to that?

- January and Febuary my busiest months, so may come late. What is the likelyhood of having to wait as I know there was a queue to get in the tournament on Saturday.

A suggestion...

Played 1B last time and I was there all day, but it was a nightmare to get food. People waited above 1 hour for it and I 100% understand that the demand was due to a lot higher numbers turning up, but I was starving all day & when I got food it was cold :(. I would advise cutting a few breaks (although mentioned) & adding 45-1hr break somewhere along the lines so people can eat. Also, can you guys cut the silly break that is just before the last level?

Another suggestion...

There are mega-sats around & now an online day 1a, would both of these not run well with a Chipleader running with it? Personally hate having one online tournament up when I do play online, so having Chipleaders, sats and online 1a may run together?

Good luck with this, hopefully supporting!!

If the online gets cut to 12-15 minutes I may well play. 20 minutes is way too long. It's going to be nearly 6 hours of online play to not even reach the cash.

Other than the odd WCOOP or similar I think that's pretty much unheard of online. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right about the clock, but pretty sure 6 hours is a standard online MTT length if you final.....................

I think the main difference is that the last level will be a titanic shove fest, as everyone is going to want to "get to day 2 with a stack" rather than "make good use of this hotel ive booked", but thats not necessarily a bad thing IMO - nice dynamic

6 hours isn't to final though is it. It's just to get you to level 17 which probably won't even be in the money.

Could be interesting for people like myself who live close by. Figuring out calling ranges could be fun.

Also consider a situation like........

Last hand of the night. You have 2x average and are rolled to buy in on all 3 day 1's. You've also booked and paid for a hotel. Someone with 1 chip less than you goes all in and you have AA.

Wwyd?

i understand what you mean but this isnot a normall thing its a day 1 to a deepstack touniment where playing live s normally 12 hours so 6 online is short but will prob get the same amount of hands as would playing live LEAVE CLOCK ALOAN

This is a very good idea for those of us some way away.  I can't play this month, but will give it a go as sson as I can.

I think 15 minute blinds feels about equal to 40 minutes live and 20 seems too much.

But can you not do a comparision on number of hands played online in 15 minutes in a typical MTT vs number of hands played in 40 minutes in the club?  I guess the online bit is easy, but the club bit more difficult, though I would be surprised if nobody has ever counted.

I think the number of hands in both should be the same.  Otherwise we could get 5% of the field through from 1A, but all with double the average stack.

Having said all this, then you could just give it a go and see how many make it through.

Not really difficult to count the number of hands live.

Buy half a dozen of these things:

Put them with the seating cards on 6 tables in any comp. Tell the dealers that every time the button hits seat 1 to press the little button on the top of the little machine.

Do a little bit of maths.

Job done.

The last time I counted it was around 27-30 hands per hour at DTD, an orbit was taking just under 20 mins, but that was in the early levels

We have done the analysis and come to the opinion 15 is not quite enough 20 is about right.

We track all the hands per hour on the shuffle machines so we have pretty good information.

After the first one on-line we can amend the length of the levels if need be.

Hopefully the on-line 1A will be well received and we can improve it in the following months.

Thanks for all the positive feedback - keep it coming

100% recommend on line buy in. Those that suggest opening an hour early to accommodate queues are kinda forgetting that it wont stop the majority from still turning up 15 minutes before the off.

Serious question mate - with the general standard on DTD online donyoubthink it gives a massive advantage to the like of you, Middy, Marc etc, more than live or do you think expected Ev is same? Obv game will play v diff to high stakes regs on stars.

i dont think the online day will be that soft. All the live value will probs only play the live days. Its just a lot less hassle than travelling down for day 1. Id think my Ev would be better if i played the live day, but im just born lazy.

Possible numpty question:

I duly got an email to select which day 1 to play after my sat win in early Jan. I chose day 1b (Sat as it was then), but the day 1a special means Day 1b is actually day 1c.  Should I contact Nichola et al to doubly confirm I can only play Saturday, or will it all be fine and not to worry.

Reading that back, I look like an overly worrying eejit. Hey ho. Apologies

Hey

It's a good question as we did originally give you the choice between 2 day 1's and there obviously now 3.

I was planning on contacting all players to confirm, which I will do next week as it's nearer the event and more players will have decided :)

If you pm your real name I can put 1C next to your name and will save me a phone call ;)

Hi china mug

Correct as its a re entry you can win more than one seat and use for re entry

If you want to play the online day 1 on Thursday we need plenty of notice to enter the players before the start.

Any unused seats have a 6 week expiry date so will be good for the following month.

Good luck

If you win more than 1 feeder in 1 day you will win cash for duplicate seats so you can use the cash for rebuys in the satellite :)

Sorry this is incorrect, we have changed it so that players can only win 1 feeder into each nightly final.

Feeders show 1 hour before they run, so the 2pm feeder has just popped in the lobby :)

€2 Rebuy Feeders run at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm
€7 FO Feeders run at 7.30pm, 8pm
€2 Rebuy Feeders run into the next night at 8.30pm, 9pm, 9.30pm, 10pm

Lots of chances to win your seat into the nightly final.

Last month we made roughly 25 seats a night :)

Good Luck all Blondes.

Nicola

Yes this is what it was last time.    One Issue though, if you dont take a re-buy you dont get the option of taking the add on.

Last final I played, I didnt want the rebuy so clicked the auto add on, but when I clicked no to re-buy, the add on option has gone.

Why is this Nicola?

Thanks for the info on the feeders.

Hi Nicola, just won one of the feeders into tonight's final, and it wont let me enter another feeder as I'm already the final.  Is this right?

Thanks

Hi LOJ

Yes sorry if you have won a feeder into the final, it will stop you playing another feeder. Sorry I didn't realise that this had been changed permanantly. I have edited my previous post to reflect this for others reading.

I will also check why you are not given the option to add-on if you haven't taken the rebuy. Again this shouldn't be the case, will check for you.

Cheers Nicola

Yes it's the same as when we announced. 30,000 chips, 20 min clock, same blind structure as live. You will play 16 levels both online and live and carry chips through to day 2 :)

the auto add on (and auto re buy ) needs to be selected on the table your on
so if you select auto add on and then move table you need to select it again

think that maybe the issue

I have also confirmed with the team that you should be able to take an add-on even if you havent taken the rebuy, if the auto add-on disappears please do it manually. If the option is not available please send me a screen shot and i will have it investigated for you :) nicola@dusktilldawnpoker.com.

Hope this is ok for tonight for you, maybe don't select the auto add-on for now.

Cheers Nicola

As discussed, we will trial the 20 min clock online and get feedback/opinions/look at results, the general consensus among online MTT players is that 15 mins would be the most similar to 40 mins online, however the more 'live' orientated players have asked us to keep it at 20 mins, so lets see how it goes.

We don't have a clue how tough online day 1a will be compared to live day 1b and day 1c, it's an experiment to help players who live further away from DTD to reduce their expenses and be able to afford to play our Deepstack more regularly, whether that be live or online. From players I have spoken to so far, most seem to say they will play online when they could not make Fri or Sat due to prior arrangements with kids/family etc. A lot of the online MTT pros are busy on Sundays with all the online comps so these players rarely play our Deepstack anyway, so i'm expecting a mix of players.

Cheers Aces

I love this idea and really hope it works.

Those online MTT pro's who are coming fresh to playing on the Boss Network may lose some of their edge in the transition from their regular sites...

Tough question this being the first time with three days one.

~150 would be my guesstimate.

through the DTD Public wireless

Note though, the final will be on the feature (live streamed, hole cards etc) and phones and devices are not allowed during that play so you'd have to factor that in to your thoughts

As to how many make it, tricky to say this time. Normally 15-20% of the combined (live) day one field start day 2 after 15 day 1 levels.

this time we need to factor in an online day 1, and 16 day one levels

the hope is that day 2 starts with everyone in the cash

Lets plug in 500-600 total runners, that suggests 60-70 coming back

(sorry for the waffle)

On a very serious note, this is surely impossible unless artificially generated? I dont like that idea at all. It removes teh cash bubble which is obvioulsy a significant part of any tourney

pls advise

I am sure there's no intention to artificially generate. I think its an "aspiration" under a strategy of introducing an Online 1a that you could play that, and arrive at the club on Sunday knowing you'd cashed. Nice message for players, I think

Until we see it in operation though, we won't know.

FWIW - the point i am making is that in a multi day 1 scenario, it is impossible to have people in the money at the start of day 2, due to different runners, not knowing who to pay etc etc

There was a WSOP event 2 years ago where there was much panic on the last day 1 as they thought they were doing to break to money due to unforseen action, I think they missed doing it by 6 players or something very close!

To be clear:

Each Day 1 plays 16 levels, both live and online.

Everyone is not in the money on Day 2 but we will be closer than just playing 14-15 levels. The bubble will be on Sunday Day 2, I think around 18 levels would need to be played to get everyone in the money, we are playing 16.

Cheers Aces

If you haven't already received the email from us (might be in your junk mail) then we will be contacting you again today, probably by phone. You can drop me a PM or email with your details and day 1 request nicola@dusktilldawnpoker.com.

Also a note to anyone else who has qualified/qualifys tonight if you let me know asap which day 1 you wish to play, I will need time to manually enter you into online 1A with your seat :)

Duplicate seats can be used for re-entry into any future day 1 whether you decide to play online or live, or transferred to next month :)

Please feel free to register in advance tonight so we can get an idea of numbers, we have no idea how popular it will be and guess many players will register at the last minute.

We don't recommend players do that as we cannot support any activity via this method.

Deffo wouldn't be putting in much volume on the wi-fi. With a full club its extremely unreliable. Use 3g or don't at all imo.

We have at least 24 online satellite winners, plus up to 20 from tonight's MEGA SAT, I predict we will start with about 50/60 runners with about 20 late registrations.

If you register early it will enoucrage others to play it...the more in the more appealing it will be to others :)

Completely unknown, but 24 satellite qualifiers have chosen Day 1a online and I think there are around 50 satellite qualifiers yet to decide which day to play, so its showing "some" potential, but very early days for this trial. If put on the spot, I would guess 75-100 runners but I am really guessing.

Hi Nicola,

I was wondering about this when i played the sat on Monday, i didnt use the rebuy but clicked the add-on box, but instead it gave me  a rebuy (5k chips), wasnt sure if it was me but just had the add-on after taking the rebuy in tonights sat and it was a 10k add on, so looks like if you havent taken the rebuy then you cant get the add on as it automatically gives you the rebuy first.

Thanks
R.

Cheers Nicola

the auto add on (and auto re buy ) needs to be selected on the table your on
so if you select auto add on and then move table you need to select it again

think that maybe the issue

I have also confirmed with the team that you should be able to take an add-on even if you havent taken the rebuy, if the auto add-on disappears please do it manually. If the option is not available please send me a screen shot and i will have it investigated for you :) nicola@dusktilldawnpoker.com.

Hope this is ok for tonight for you, maybe don't select the auto add-on for now.

Cheers Nicola

really think the sat would benefit from the add on being after 1 hour. Already 40 people are out when it comes to the add on period thatch probably a potential of 20 more add ons at least if it is after 1 hour and not 1 and a half hours! just seems to long and everyone is pretty short after 1 and a half hourse. Just my two penneth :)

Based on some of the above posts, the rebuy seems a bit unpredictable

In my case, I had auto rebuy and add on boxes ticked. I had expected the rebuy to trigger when I bust but 5k chips just added randomly after about 10 minutes play!

Fortunately this stack never busted before the add on but presumably if it had done, that was my 1 rebuy used up?

Conversely in the feeders I was only able to rebuy 1500 chips when bust but saw many others at the table reloading with 3000 chips.

Could you clarify the how the rebuy process is supposed to work please?

The add-on is 10,000 chips, and you should be able to take the add-on without the rebuy. We have checked the results and players have taken just the add-on and not the rebuy so we know it is working.

I believe it will offer you both, and you need to select which you wish to take, it's only a small window of time to select the add-on and we have asked for this to be increased, and they are working on it for us.

We have to have the same rules as the live day 1's so unfortunately you can't forfeit a small stack. However as you know you are playing 16 levels you will know you are getting to the end of the day 1 and can make a decision about how to play your stack :)

The feeders are unlimited rebuys and therefore you can only rebuy when you are below starting stack and it's unlimited.

The satellite finals are 1 Reload, 1 add-on and therefore you can take the reload at any time regardless of your stack, therefore if you tick auto rebuy it won't wait for you to fall below starting stack.

How many usually get through a live Day 1 of the deepstack? With the additional level(s) fewer will be going through from the live ones as well.

Is it looking likely that a very low number will be going through from tonight?

Was mentally preparing to drive Glasgow-Nottingham to grind a sub 20bb stack, but unfortunately could not hold in the last hour

the comp was meant to stop after level 16. Tom from Dtd did come on and say they were taking a screenshot of the chip counts. Of course no one believed it was Tom especially paranoid Batey and no believer Bedi :)

hi guys, comments are;

- very happy with 85 runners for the first time we have tried this format

- 9.4% of the field got through, I expected 10% ish so no massive surprise there - we played an extra level plus players can re-enter so are more inclined to gamble - just the same as they do on Fridays. I expect c13% friday and c17%% sat, that 16th level should get rid of an extra 3% of the field, so ideally an overall average of 15% into Day 2 (75 out of 500). There is always a higher % get thru on Sat as most of our satellite qualifiers choose Sat and they plays a little more conservatively, plus players cannot re-enter so there is less gambling

- I don't read anything into Ben's chip leader stack, you don't get bigger chips because its online cards, we have had players get these size of stacks live, especially with Ben's conservative style of play :) You only have to look a the Chip Leader results to know its rarely the big stacks that pick up the big money so i don't think this should deter anyone from playing friday or saturday

- we have recorded various data for all levels/hands/players left etc etc that we will compare to this weekend's live Day 1's, so any adjustments to future online day 1's can be made to get them as close to live as poss

- yes, agree the software should pause after 16 levels but its been repeatedly marketed (and marketed again) that we are playing 16 levels online, but of course, we need to try and find away of stopping the comp (same as a live day 1!)

- we play 16 levels on fri and sat, should finish around 2am

- for those of you that made Sunday day 2, please remember its a 1pm re-start as part of the aim to get an earlier finish for travelling players

thanks for the support guys, when we try new stuff its risky, and we can't do it without your support and feedback

Overall: I think this online day 1 has some legs, everyone has worked hard at DTD to get it off the ground, so lets see how the rest of the weekend goes, it would be nice to keep getting 500+ runners each month

cheers rob

ps. You can expect a few very important announcements about DTD in next 14 days, I will post them on here first of course

100% its got some legs rob. A slight difference obv being that tonight we played periods 5 and 6 handed which the live guys won't but when online numbers grow this wont be a problem. 12 minute levels (esp) with no timebank will mirror 40 min levels perfectly imo.
maybe have a sat online to the £300 that you must play day1a)? to increase day1a  players? great innovation think we touched on it in san remo day 1 iirc

Ha! Is that Richard? Explains alot
yes Richard Norfolk, loves the game and will be re entering.
Richard Whiteley wants it pointing out that he is Rick117.

The online experiment was definatley a success and should stay IMO. You 100% need to reduce the clock but you probably know this. It is not just the amount of hands played but also the way people play online. You are always gonna have carnage when people get to half a million in chips and think "fuck it, that's not enough. I'm just gonna roll my face on the key board for 3 hands and see if I can get to a million".

All eyes will be on Ben with the 700k best of luck to him. He is a class act

Good innovation and hope it stays

I don't think these stacks are particularly crazy to be fair.

Last month someone had 400k but with a level less to do it in.  Whilst I'd expect Ben to stay at the top I wouldn't be surprised to see a different name in 2nd spot when we get to day 2.

All it takes is a big flip somewhere or an AA vs KK cooler and you've got another monster stack. Only reason you'll get bigger stacks online is they've had more hands to find a cold deck.

Hopefully DTD will monitor the hands on a few tables tonight and tomorrow to see how they compare. I'm pretty sure they can drop it to 15 mins for the next online one.

Bens stack did involve a significant hand vs trigg with JJJ > 888. Im sure someone has had 700k before now in a deep stack

i played last night did not trouble scorer but would definately play again
was happy with levels and expected only 10 % or less to get through players including me flick it in more easly on  line

only thing i would change would be for some one from dtd to post screen shot on here when level 16 complete so its clear game over

I played too & thought  the structure was good. No great surprises really. It did seem that players were busting thick and fast from about level 12 but guess that is more to do with online styles and players more prepared to take 10-15 bb flips than they would be Live. (Me included)

Agree that a 15 min clock would probably be closer to 40 mins live.

One thing I did notice though was that  at the breaks the clock wasn't paused so every third level was effectively 15 or 16 minutes. Not a bad thing, just an observation FWIW.

Will definitely play it next month if it runs.

the clock doesnt stop when we are on our break

think thats why  levels are 20 20 25  and repeat

clock not stopping at breaks  was taken care of by levels i think

Think the stacks aren't as rediculous as people made out.

Think Matt nailed it on the head, we just saw so many more hands which gave us more opportunity to cooler somebody.

I had 230k and was cruising and got it in with nut house and got paid off to go to 550k and Ben got too set over middle set for 350k stacks. That could easily happen live, we just saw 10x more hands for this to happen.

Improvements for next time imo:

1. Time bank
2. 15 min clock
3. Clock to stop at level 16
4. An animation of TD Ryan chipping up every few levels.

All in all, an awesome idea. I'm far better online than live, so maybe this is my ticket into day 2's at DTD haha

Title: ONLINE MTT PLAYERS- ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE
Post by: robyong on February 02, 2013, 03:36:47 AM
Guys

Please can you advise me;

We measured the hands per level for Thursdays day 1a online and Fridays day 1b live:

Online day 1a - 18.33 hands per 20 min level (54.99 per hour)

Live day 1b - 16.14 hands per 40 min level (24.21per hour)

The live numbers are in line with previous results of MTT hands per hour (24 average per hour) that we have done before with DTD dealers after they have completed their training period.

This means in terms of hands per hour a 40 min clock at DTD is equal to a 17.6 min clock online. Therefore, the online players who made it through were dealt 35 hands more over the 16 levels than the live players. Having a time bank online would make the hands per level even closer. 35 hands is a significant amount, it's over 2 more levels of hands seen by the online players, however, this is not as big a differential that some knowledgable online players have been quoting on here.

So, please can any online MTT specialists advise why the general consensus is that a 40 min live level is equivent to a 12-15 online level - not a 17.4 min online level? On the results of our data,  when converting a live clock to an online equivalent, I should be multiplying the live clock by 0.44 ie. 24.21 live hands/hr divided by 54.99 online hands/hr.

It's really important we get this right if we are to do this again so advice is really appreciated.

Thanks, Rob

If live players made decisions in the same time period as online the numbers would be closer.

The maths seems fine, assuming you are looking to play the same amount of hands the only figure that needs working out is the amount of hands on average per level. It seems online is approx 1 min a hand and live 2.5 min a hand so anywhere at 16-18 min levels should equal it out - you'll never get it spot on.
With the  Grand Prix having 30 min live levels i would calculate it as a 12 min online clock.

When you look at the data and chip stacks from day 1a and 1b there is no big difference, so dropping the online clock to 17-18 mins should sort it.

I never expected DTD to be too far out in the first  place.

This is surely the main difference based on the figures from the 2 days?

18 mins and a time bank would work. Would stop online getting so short of players so soon and a few more runners online would stoop it going below say 16 remaining and then in my opinion you have no problems. Nice to see the figures wrong. Haters are always going to hate but DTD are the only place that put these new things out there and full marks to them for trying!

I don't think these stacks are particularly crazy to be fair.

Last month someone had 400k but with a level less to do it in.  Whilst I'd expect Ben to stay at the top I wouldn't be surprised to see a different name in 2nd spot when we get to day 2.

I don't always get it right but when I do it makes me happy.

I was surprised to see how close DTD got with the number of hands. I thought it'd be about 15 mins but it looks like 18's the magic number.

You'll still get similar results though purely because it's online and not live.

Why do people who offer constructive criticism get called 'haters' by the way?

Nobody on here has said anything hateful from what I've seen, they've just offered thoughts and opinions.

That's really surprising to find the average live play is 2min 30 seconds per hand. I thought it would be alot more.

18 mins with a time bank would make it pretty spot on then.

I started off playing my usual scedual on stars but had to really reduce the number of tables because of the no time bank. Plus it was a £338 bullet so obviously wanted to keep an eye on that more. I couldn't find an option to make the DTD table pop up when it was my turn it just flashed and I missed a few hands. Am I just being blind and there is an option for this.

Cheers Rob. Great idea.

I think 1 difference which you cannot accommodate for, is that the later in day 1 you get, the hands take much longer to Play out in live poker. Level 11 yesterday we Played 11 hands on my table ( only noted by realising I hadn't seen the button for a while then 2 hands later blinds were uP)
