when he said he had a bad kicker, I was praying it was lower than my 7, meaning he was drawing dead .... as luck would have it, i got him to call for all his chips. I wanted him to think I had aces and wanted the pot there and then .... did i play it well or was my over bet the wrong move ?

the re-raise on the flop was brilliant...I am sure most people just call behind there and try and suck some more out of them on the turn

You made it look like an overpair and you were scared of the draw

Saw nothing wrong with your comments

p.s Lucky fish.

Reading thru the hand transcript you only make 1 comment throughout the hand: "You have a 5??" I fail to see what is unethical about that, you at no stage reveal your hand nor do you provoke your opponent in any way to making a call. The fact that you both hold a 5 in the blinds and the only other 2 fives in the deck appear on the flop is just an unfortunate one for him, regardless of any comments made the money was destined to go in the middle.

p.s. i agree with TE's p.s. Wink

To me there is nothing wrong with using that chat box to try induce a move from an opponent. That said I don't believe you really said anything that altered the way this particular hand played out.

he could have still split the pot.

i like your play, suspicion is unavoidable against huge overbets.

.... did i play it well or was my over bet the wrong move ?

your overbet gets action from hands that will give you action no matter what you do, and loses action from hands you want more action from, so yes, your overbet was wrong

maybe you wanted to try and trap JJ/QQ into thinking you had a flushdraw, but wait.. you say thus:

Quote
I wanted him to think I had aces and wanted the pot there and then

fantastic, you are trying to convince hands you want calling to fold, and you are trying to convince hands that will give you their chips no matter what, to give you their chips

seems like a real bad idea to me

think of it this way. If they have a five, it doesn't matter what you do.. they are giving you the money. This is micro stakes poker. 99% of players wont fold a five. All your bet does is give a flush draw/overpair a great excuse to fold, which kinda minimizes your potential profit, which is why your bet is pretty bad.

its not all doom and gloom, as Fds and overpairs call here as well with great frequency, but if you are trying to represent AA, then its pretty clear. If you are sucessful in ur reprensentation, you are just pissing money down the drain

The reasoning for the over bet was because of the bet, then the raise and the call of the raise by my oppo's ... Obviously they had a decent enough holding for one to bet, the other to raise and then have his raise called ... This is what made me make the big bet ... I was confident one of them at least had enough to call me .... Im just glad it wasnt 77 LOL

LOL yes 77 woulda been bad!!!!!! just be glad you bet enough to make sure that hands like 99/1010 folded, otherwise they might have cost you a lot of money if they hit!!!!!!!!!
