Guys guys - for pete's sake PLEASE don't use mininova - it hosts trackers for the authorities that are trying to catch out downloaders.  This has been proved on the torrent site I use, which is POTUK - I go there for EVERYTHING and it really is very safe.

I have 9 invites, so if you are interested, please PM me with your email address and an invite will be on its way. Ask Royal Fish and Ginger - they've both got it off me.

Oh and as far as LOST goes, I too have watched the whole damn lot, and all I will say is you're still none the wiser at the end of this series!!!!

Roll on Series Two.

isn't this all pretty illegal? along the same lines as music and film piracy?

Illegal music downloading is something I feel strongly against and so should you all.  I know it's rare anyone voices this opinion these days but piracy is theft and it has a major impact on the entertainment industry and long term has a major impact on artist development and the end product being altered significantly. As someone who's been at the bottom end of the music industry trying to break into the big leagues for 15 years I've seen the impact of music theft first hand. in the mid / late 80s and through to the mid 90s record companies would give many decent musicians a chance, to varying degrees of success. some bilge got through but if no-one bought it, it soon went away. as record sales declined and profit margins were cut the major record labels have had to change their approach. Why do you thing we're getting such a lot of pop idol / formulaic boy / girl / pop band type artists? because record companies have 'us' vote in our millions for the people 'we' want signed. they won't take a chance on fresh young talent, just incase it doesn't succeed, where as before you only had to have a fighting chance to get picked up.

buy your CD / DVD / video / book / magazine
don't steal it.

as a person who has over 150 cd (although the last one i bought was in 1994 as i cant stand any of the music recently and dont listen to it)and 60 dvd i have to agree with adam

but on the tv front i like bitorrent  nothing wrong IMHO in downloading a program and watching it aslong as the upload hasnt altered the broadcast in anyway including the adverts saves me using video tape

yet still you give advice and tech help to blondites wanting to down load simpsons / lost / any other media for sale.

I have many more CDs than that and will continue to pay for them.

copyright theft is THEFT and is not something to be proud of and discussed openly.

Sorry guys but this really is a raw nerve for me. Embarrassed

tv programs downloaded off the net have usually had the ads removed.

I see no problem with downloading tv episodes as you could just have taped em anyway and seeing as many tv compnies are currently investing in tv on demand thru the net its the same thing, within the next few months you will be able to download the majority of popular tv shows that have already been shown for free straight from the company.

Anyway this is statring to gt off topic as ususal lol

I recall something very similar being said about itunes, how it would effect the music industry for the worse. And online poker affecting poker in general....
I was also in a similar position to you Adam, playing in a band (about 15 years ago now). For up and coming bands, i believe these sort of download are great. Let me tell you, I have downloaded LOADS of songs from the internet to listen to them and see how the band are, then, if I liked them, I went and bought the original CD. I have spent loads of money as a consequence that otherwise the music industry would not have had. I also got to hear some of my favourite bands such as the RX Bandits etc. These bands would not have a prayer of radio play so is a great medium to get heard.
Do you object to Ebay? It is the same. People buy a CD/DVD, copy it, then sell it on ebay with the artist/actors etc not getting a percentage of the sale, yet, they have lost out by the person in question not buying from the shops. I dont hear an outcry about them.

ofcourse I object to that, thats exactly the problem.
people selling pirate media without the artist and record company getting paid.

criminal

and wether it's Lost or music, it's still theft

Which is the downloaders problem NOT the advisors.  It all depends on whether the downloader has a conscience or not.
