Leeds officials have prevented Sky TV from entering Elland Road in a bid to stop them screening Tuesday night's Championship game against Derby.

It is the ninth time a Leeds league match has been picked for live coverage and it is set to kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Leeds owner Massimo Cellino told staff to ban the cameras as he feels the team feature on TV too often, causing a negative effect on attendances.

Football League officials are trying to resolve the situation.

Good, they can't keep giving other teams extra rest than us week after week, its getting beyond unfair.

attendances for the leeds sky games have been higher than non sky games

the club gets a £100,000 facility fee for every game they host, designed to offset any loss of attendance, but as it is extra revenue as there is no loss of attendance

skys football league games get 25% more viewers for leeds games than any other

Stop yer whining Leeds fans.  We have been on 9 times, more than any other team and personally, the £100k comes in handy in these tough times don't you think?

Medium term, this has to be better than 24 hrs additional rest here and there?  Say it costs your team 5 points a season being on telly 10 times a season, that's a cool mill.....and given where our teams are, I'd rather have the extra mill and if previous posts are correct then your attendances have not gone down.

The fictitious 5 points lost are a little insignificant being in mid table.  Would be curious to see the prize award for finishing say 4 places different in the league at the end of the season (assuming 5 points are lost).  I bet it's not £1 million.

Thoughts?

Lol attendances are still higher for these sky games because they are obviously the bigger games vs sides like Boro and Derby. Would still make more than the 100k on tickets/food & drink sales if a sat at 3pm because the attendances would be 28k rather than 23k otherwise.

Its not really relevant to say all is fine coz the attendances for these matches are still at the same level to when playing a small club like Brighton or Charlton.

TV money means they dictate a lot of what happens these days. It's laughable to see clubs bleating about it when they have took the £££££.

Perhaps Cellino should view the extra TV time as a compliment to his club's brand and realise in a TV age that could be worth a fortune if he's smart about it.

Instead he seems to want a fight. Strikes me as the sort of bloke who could fall out with his own shadow.

Poor old Leeds.

Excellent post, imo.

Meanwhile, in shock news, Cellino has changed his mind.

Another woeful season of mid table Championship obscurity.

I'm forgetting what it feels like to care when results are never relevant after November.

Football is boring as hell when you're a Leeds fan.
