I'm no Leeds lover, but I think this is an excellent signing for them. I expect his wages would be beyond most Championship clubs' budgets so it's a fairly serious statement of intent too.
I'm intrigued as to what Leeds do with their squad over the summer. It's only a matter of time before they're back to being one of the division's big spenders but was kind of expecting it to be a gradual transition with this season being a consolidation period (although I don't think there's any danger of them going back down, which is generally the priority for most clubs coming up).
The division is very tight and one or two good signings can make a hell of a difference, Charlie Adam at Blackpool being a very obvious example. Schmeichel could well be one of those signings next season (much as it pains me to say it).

Looking like Beckford has finally gone to Everton, not sure how much of an impact he'll make there but no one can blame him.
He'll always be remembered for helping us in our darkest hour and for the goals vs scum and Bristol.
I hope he does well in the prem

Beckford is never a Prem player imo, but gl to him.
Schmeicel looks a good one, Higgs/Ankergen just wouldn't cut it in the Championship.
How long will Kisnorbo miss of next season? I don't really rate Naylor/Collins. Think you need a decent CB

Is Beckford a bad signing for Everton or just a gamble they can afford to take. I imagine he is well within their wage budget (especially if Yakubu is going) and if it doesn't work out then i reckon some championship team will easily pay £500k in a years time.

^^^ Agreed, pretty much a freeroll for them.I don't think he will be good enough,Kasper Schmeichel is a good signing for you,he was linked to a lot of big clubs.

Its a +ve gamble, his wages would be small compared to others, costing nothing, plus he's likely to come off the bench 20 times and get a couple of goals. Will eat my hat if he starts more than 10 games.

Kisnorbo is out till Nov. it seems and thats a huge dent in our team. I fully expect Grayson to sign a CB before the summer ends.
Beckford is a goal scorer, he proved that against Man Utd, Spurs (how many times did he come off the shoulder of the defender and create a clear cut shot/chance?) + aload of micky mouse teams he can hang on the edge of defenders and turn them to score goals. I don't think he will set the world alight but I expect him to score goals if he moves to the prem. Beckfords agents the real cockend imo not Beckford, who was awsome vs Bristol in his captains role.

I am hearing you want to sign Wayne Brown from us. Now that would be a controversial one. If google isn't your friend I'll fill you in if you sign him.

Wasn't/Isn't there a fallout there?
Dropped from play-offs?

Yes. Very much so
I'll leave the fallout story to Wikipedia
As a player he is a left sided central defender. A stopper. Strong as an Ox. A leader. However with distribution skills that make Carlton Palmer look like Lionel Messi. One paced too, but not found out too much unless up against a really nippy one
Good solid Championship player, but with some baggage!

Erm, not sure about him as a person thats for sure. I would like to think the club wouldn't sign him based on that alone.

Beckfords 20min LUTV leaving interview was good, he did do alot for us and joined when we had only a handful of 1st teamers and the rest trialist.
I really do hope he gets off to a flying start at Everton.
I think the general consensus is that Billy Sharp will be his replacement or maybe Paynter if Swindon don't go up tomorrow.
