As regards being able to take your chips at the table. I know plenty of blokes at Luton it is far easier to take chips from.

What he said

A agree if it's the chips that come with a burger - no ones getting those!  Bit like the ones RTighty had with his dinner last night - didn't offer me one!

i would hope that i have just as much respect as anyone else in the cardroom where i play.i cash regulary, and think i have progressed as a player.being a woman can have its advantages though, men asume you have the nuts Wink

I would be interested to see a tournie which is split in numbers between men and women rather than having a few token women and see what happens.

How about http://strippoker.paddypower.com/register.php: it is a £10,000 winner-takes-all freeroll and they want 100 men and 100 women.  Unfortunately I'm busy on that date but I'm trying to persuade Mrs MrsLime to go.

Of course its worth women playing poker.

Luton festival this week had about 4 or 5 lady players. Me, Chili, Staskia (bambos wife) , Amanda and a luton regular player

I don't care who I accumulate my chips off but I will gladly flirt at all opportunities if it wins me chips and at least i'm having fun whilst doing that

I would say my style has changed from weak tight, to tight agressive and I have no problems in re-reraising an opponent when I think they have rubbish.  Did it about 6 times last night at luton and bubbled but still won a saver and was proud with my performance , went out with lively cards in the attempt to double up and get me to final table in a strong position but after I hit , they rehit so luck was out, but hell I didn't mind going out with 2 4 off, it makes other opponents more aware that i'll gamble Smiley  and 2 cashes in 3 festival tournies i'm proud of

Plus I think we can calm or waken up a table Wink

Jennifer Harman is probably in top 5 of the best players in the world in my opinion.

In general i have found most women players to be weak tight. I steal their blinds relentlessly the same as i would against weak tight male player. If they raise they have something is my starting assumption always and i can't remember being proved wrong very often.

I think genrally women players lack the gamble gene and would rather get blinded away than put their chips in with junk.

I strongly disagree there are some fantastic female poker players and it will only be a matter before one wins the world series.

I think there is plenty of great women poker players in the uk, its just a shame that we get bad press when you see these celebity womens comps with the models and actresses playing that dont have a clue!
Put the real women poker players on there it would be well worth the watch.
As for women are weak and wont reraise without nothing is rubbish, did you see Mel when she took on Gus Hanson? i dont think theres alot of men that would have made that move!!!

Whenever I play a lady player they always seem to know when I'm at it.  I never even consider bluffing them anymore.

Have you ever come across a woman who isn't tight weak?

I refrain from comment.. I thought this was a poker forum!

It is of course dangerous to generalise, but I think ladies can be intimidated more easily at beginner level and thus "clam up"

Men are too busy being completely lacking in self awareness to notice!

Interesting thread... I have to say that Tighty sums up the often-true generalisation about beginnners of both sexes absolutely perfectly.
Can't say much more than that.

As for playing better players in bigger things - top players aren't top players because they insta-categorise their opponents.  It's a cliche, and no longer fully true, that women have an 'advantage as the men think I'm weak - ahahah little do they know!'  Out of the beginner environment, many players have been around long enough to know that surface information is just that, and don't give the ladies any credit one way or another, until their betting patterns and mannerisms give the kind of information that IS actually useful.

It might hurt one's wallet, after all, to bring gender preconceptions to a table on which lies a great deal of money.
