Well done you new non smokers,   I've been following your progress, & I'm full of admiration.

I WILL QUIT on January, 5th 2007, I really want to do this, business has been particularly stressfull in the past few weeks, & I know its no excuse, but thats just how it is. Come January, I'll give this quitting lark a good go.

"stressful time ahead/now" has been my excuse not to quit for years now.

But it does not work like that.

Ciggies do NOT help relieve stress, we just THINK they do. Get stressed, light a fag, you still stay stressed! In the nearly 2 weeks since I quit, I've had a whole pile of unpleasant & stressful situations to deal with - but I've coped, & not having my ciggie "crutch" has not made an iota of difference.

You can't do it until you are ready, but please don't let "stress ahead" be an excuse.

I hear what you are saying Tikay, & you're right of course, I know it, I've used the same old excuses for years. I will be ready to quit on 5th January. I've told family, friends, the kids, everyone.
Stress free, Smoke free..... I will settle for smoke free.

Good Luck Tikay.

Cheesy Cheesy  My sentiments exactly!  Yep, 2 weeks and still going strong.  Had my first, in a bar with drink session last night.  Was sat next to Ginger and was begging her to light up next to me but she would not.  I must have gone on for an hour asking her to do it so I could enjoy NOT doing it, but she couldn't bring herself to light up.  Bless her.

Anyway, well done everyone else - and Sofa-king?  Seek medical attention before it is too late mate!

p.s keep going.

One prob the quitting smoking HAS caused is my weight to shoot up.

I am going to leave it until the end of the month & then start a crash diet, designed to end on Christmas Day.

Let's hope there is nothing else I have to give up.
