Well, I'm back home from playing my heat. Contractual responsibilities mean I can't say whether I am going back down to Cardiff for the semi final on Monday or the final on Tuesday.

But, what I can say is how grateful I am for receiving an invitation and how impressed I am with the organisation and running of the tournament.

From the word go it was classy. Hills paid for our flights to Cardiff and had a taxi waiting for us at the airport. We were whisked to our 5 star hotel in the centre of the Welsh capital and a bottle of champers was on ice in our room.

Onto the tournament itself.  The players were treated superbly. Everything was done to make us feel comfortable. The cameras were unobtrusive. Presentable ran an excellent ship. Interviews were undertaken by Vicky Coren and the questions were well researched and (hopefully) led to interesting and revealing answers. The structure of the event was just perfect with loads of time to settle in and play some real poker. No crap shoot here. Meanwhile spectators were treated exceptionally well (mightly different to most tournies where friends and relatives of the players are often seen as a nuisance).

And all this before I mention the added money! There is a plethora of televised tournaments. I have been invited to play quite alot. But, I have never seen the point. I feel the players give up lots by showing their hole cards. Would a snooker player play in a tournament where he puts up the entry fee and their is no added money. To my way of thinking to play on tv they must do something extra to attract me. And Hills added the little matter of over £160,000! Just tremendous.

My hat is off to Rob Thomas of Presentable and Phil "bobby1"Quayle of Hills for providing the players with a tremendous poker tournament.

I hope and trust the finished article of the tv programme does the event justice. I'm sure it will. Without giving anything away, my heat involves a very controversial moment which should definitely be worth watching.

      Keith.

if it is half as good as last years, then it will be twice as good as any other televised poker.

nice post Keith, bobby1 kindly invited me to a heat (more accurately I pested him to get to see it!) and I chose yours with Ram and JP. Unfortunately family commitments stopped me coming at the last minute

Looking forward to watching it in January.
