If there are cards still to come 'they' the plonkers (and me) wouldn't want to give anyone to act after me infinite odds to catch their draw and if I bet 'the pot' and someone calls on a draw atleast there's a chance they'll miss and I'll still have chips should the original 'all in' have me beat. Or I may just want to push someone off to get a one on one with the player who's all in.

Sometimes makes sense to bet into a dry sidepot. There's even an argument for occasionally betting into a dry sidepot when you know you are very likely to lose to the guy allin!
When it's pointless though, which is quite often, it is very annoying.

if it's too your benefit to bet into the drypot then bet into the drypot
ie if you are chip leader and you are getting free reign to bully the short stacks then its in your intrest to keep the stacks small you dont want to let the player with chip left gather more easier to bully shorter stacks

Perverse logic personified? What's the point of your post? If it's just to mock then don't bother but if you'd care to explain I'm here to learn so shoot. Would be good if you referred directly to my post in your 'explanation'.

in his post, he says "perverse logic personified?" now, what you need to do is to read the thread and see if that phrase has been mentioned by anyone else. That, sherlock, is who he will be talking to.. and he is wondering what exactly portfolio means by it, because it doesnt seem to make a lick of sense.
