first post, long time lurker:

final table, just doubled up thru ali when he'd raised to 20k 6 handed & i pushed for last 65k from BB with 88.
he eventaully called with 29s & the held up.

down to 4, he & i joint CL with roughly 200k each from a total of 700k.
other 2, surprise, surprise, are fairly passive.
i limp on button for 8k with K-5, SB calls & ali raises to another 30k.

i called.
flop was 6,7,8 no suits.
he pushes all-in.

fold or call?

Lord knows....I'd be tempted to fold though on this board. even against Ali with my open ender (the low end of it)

Let it go, although i hate the limp call line pre flop. i would re-raise pre flop.

great to see you posting on here Julian

I think you are ahead of an open ended draw

He puts you on biggish cards, thinks you don't have a piece of it and can't call

Call I suppose!

would you call for your entire tourney with the low end of an open ender?
I know Ali can have any two cards BUT that also means he could very well have a part of this flop...where as you at this p[oint are even beaten by ace high.

It really depends whether you want to race or not.  With his wide range I would be surprised if this call lost chips over the longrun - but surely there must be a better spot later?  Getting knocked out 4th could cost a lot in cash - I know the 2 other players would love you to call.

OK fair enough..but would you risk your entire tourney on that? I probably wouldn't.

I don't know what I would do actually - when faced with a situation where I might be ahead and when I'm not I have outs, I do tend to call tho.

See, my problem here (and most peoples I think) is that it's Ali and you always expect him to have rubbish when he raises. But he is a consitently cashing player who does really well.A large part of that has to be from people who simply don't believe him when he sticks all his chips in.

Edit*, you  called a raise with a shitty hand and essentially missed the flop (other then the low end of the open ender) even against Ali you have to let go her IMO and not make the flatcall pre-flop worse by donking off all your chips by calling when your opponent could have you by the short and curlies.

just my two cents.
