First one of these, bit of background. 2 Tables left, 70$ in the bank, 2000$ for 1st i'm sitting with an average stack, been playing fairly tight and so has my main opponent in this hand, not too much info on his as i've jst been moved but seems to have some idea he can walk into the money with his stack. While I like to 'play for thew win' I feel I can probably play as well if not better than most of the people at the table so would rather not get involved in maringal situations. Having said that I don't like to back down when I feel I'm winning and can get my chips in first.

Game #3010609453: Hold'em NL (600/1200) - 2007/01/07 - 02:00:59 (UK)
Table "2" Seat 6 is the button.
Seat 1: Scruff (24437.50 in chips)
Seat 2: Acejack (23465 in chips)
Seat 3: Andych (15134 in chips)
Seat 5: N16ksl (47537 in chips)
Seat 6: leftfoot (3755 in chips)
Seat 8: Emlyn1 (62600 in chips)
Seat 9: Simp11 (31560 in chips)
Seat 10: Jodie21 (22900.50 in chips)
Emlyn1: posts the ante 150
Simp11: posts the ante 150
Jodie21: posts the ante 150
Scruff: posts the ante 150
Acejack: posts the ante 150
Andych: posts the ante 150
N16ksl: posts the ante 150
leftfoot: posts the ante 150
Emlyn1: posts small blind 600
Simp11: posts big blind 1200
----- HOLE CARDS -----
dealt to Scruff [   ]
Jodie21: folds
Scruff: calls 1200
Acejack: folds
Andych: folds
N16ksl: folds
leftfoot: raises to 3605 and is all-in
Emlyn1: calls 3005
Simp11: folds
Scruff: calls 2405
----- FLOP ----- [   ]
Emlyn1: bets 6000

Me??? What really bothers me here is the sidepot is dry when he bets, so I feel he must have a strong hand. I can't see him calling my limp and the blinds all in without AJ or a medium pair *at least*. What do u put this guy on? Call or Raise? Maybe even fold it and wait, steal some blinds and antes in next few hands?

The original plan was a limp reraise to make the hand look strong and pick up a few more chips than normal, escape if i get put in, when that happened I was just a bit confused. I probably shouldn't have played it, but I have, and this is the situation.

I'm with rooks here, raise or pass into an unopened pot. After the preflop call of the all-in, you should push or fold. On that flop, it's a definate push for me.

He does this with Ah Q or Q... And he probably bets with the bare Ace of hearts into a dry sidepot too if what ive seen on the site is anything to go by!

I would just call preflop. The SB has a good hand because he has called the shortie's allin after you limped. The shortie can't be bluffing and the SB knows this, so if you push you are very likely to be called and be in a small fav, big dog situation with the SB. So i like your call given the generous pot odds and now i think you should push.

I have him onĀ  AhQ+ KhK/AhA. With a set or queens i think he bets bigger here.

I agree supamonkey this was along my lines of thinking. However, if you do put him on those hands isn't calling a better option in terms of long term tournament strategy. Those hands WILL call and they WILL knock you out fairly often, calling and seeing a non heart turn and then pushing regardless there is surely a better option? I'd still have fair few chips if i call n bin it when the turn is a heart.

Up to this point you have played this hand really badly, so you could just fold/call the flop and go for the hatrick of bad decisions.......

You limp first in, i hate that raise or fold.

You then get a SS push and a flat call from another player its a 9600 pot and its 2400 to play, you have about 20k back, this is about the easiest push in the world, but for some reason you called.

You flop a set and now you don't want to shovel it in? Auto-push.....again.

You push with after the short stack all in and the big stack call after he knows i've limped UTG+1 that is just crazy imo.

Why is it crazy? What hand is the SB going to have here that can call another 20k?

enough people have commented on the poor play previous to the flop. so i won't go into that. as you're there. i gamble and shove it in. but then i'm always playing to win.
he may be on AQ/KQ and not even have a heart. his bet looks quite information like.
