Think you are forgetting the greatest poker player in the world ( he has a NECS trophy to prove it) has his own website come Thursday. Not any website, oh no a website edited by the Gary Bushell of Poker Ariston. By January Mercedes, Rolex, Toshiba and Pound Stretcher will have agreed to pay 'The Man' into every event at the WPT, EPT, WOP & P4C. Bet against it at your peril!!!!!
I have been dealing with sponsorship for Ian admittedly. Companies so far signed up include Mcdonalds, Burger King, KFC and Pantene (because hes worth it

Don't slag it until you have been to a P4C event. Then you have every right to complain, and I am sure the promoter will listen to you...... as long as P4C get a mention in the Telegraph.

When I phoned the Vic to ask for the structure of the main event (as it has been ommitted from their nice colour brochure), here is the reply i got
"We have not yet decided on the structure, as it is televised, it will depend on the number of players and the time taken"
Not the answer I was looking for for a £3000 buy in comp.
Also, the £1000 f/o at the start of the week is only 5000 points to start with, so after only 2 hours (if you find no hands or fail to steal a few pots/blinds)you will become short stacked
VERY poor i thought.

I am giving the £1000 a wide berth..... for the money i just don't think you get enough chips simple as that.
Hmmmm "We have not yet decided on the structure, as it is televised, it will depend on the number of players and the time taken"
I'll tell you what that will mean......
If as expected they sell out it will be a 45 min clock. The reason that the EPT Barcelona could not be extended despite the number of runners is because the Pokerstars TV crew were booked to go home on the Sunday.
What players want comes at the bottom of their thinking.
Players could boycott big buyin crapshoot strcuctures but i doubt they will.

I played this on the Monday night of the last Vic week, the week Tony g won the big one
It happened to me, found nothing for an hour and was out at 11.30 having pushed it in with AQ short stacked and lost a race
A lot of the faces gambled to get chips quick..eg Gosney, Grech,Vogl,Duthie on my starting table were gone before the 100-200 level
Complete waste of money for me with that structure, the £300 on the Sunday was no quicker so there was better value in that!!
Next week there are cheaper events at the Gutshot festival with a similar structure but...slightly longer clocks
I know where I'm going
IMO the Vic gets tournaments all wrong, but do they care?...like hell they do...get you knocked out and into the cash games, that's the mantra

Seemed strange that the Omaha Double Chance (again £1000 buy in) you get 10,000 points.

TightEnd you beat me to it, i was about to post about the Gutshot events.
Ok the Venue might not be as nice, but at least you know you wont have strucutres shifted on you, also given that a lot of the "top" players will be at the Vic it should mean that the gutshot is clear for us fish to clean up!!!

Two other things....rant developing now
a) For the EPT biggie next week you all have to turn up at 2.30pm on the Friday to find out if you are playing day 1 (Friday at 4pm) or Day 2 (Sat at 3pm)...how daft is that? surely they can allocate you a day when you pay your money...what's the f ing point of turning up at 2.30 on the Friday to be told to come back 24 hours later? Oh, so you stay and play cash of course!!!
b) if the names boycott it, they'll just fill it with more satellite qualifiers and kids who want the exposure...the name players don't seem to have any leverage here
I wish someone could get this stuff through to Duthie...it's damaging the EPT's reputation

Also for the £1000 Omaha. If you make the final and draw day 1 of the EPT what happens as there will be a clash?
They can't be expecting to provide a decent structure because they have a £300 scheduled for the Day 2 when the runners combine.....
I also heard that you actually have to turn up on Day 1 even if you buy your ticket beforehand just to draw your seat and get told you are scheduled for Day 2. If they wanted to they could do what the WPT does and allocate you a day when you buy a ticket.
They just want players there so they play the tables.

Ben, are you playing the biggie?
I know you love the big events, but if you don't mind me asking, can't you use your cash better in your bread and butter games?

sounds marvellous, can't wait
a small request from me, weekends often difficult as I have the kids, midweek would be fantastic (if you don't ask, you don't get!)...but obviously do what's best for the majority
