you are playing in one of europe's deepest structured tournaments. 10k stack - 2 hour levels.
it's late on in day 2. 7 tables remain from the original 33. with the top 3 tables getting paid out nicely.

you're sitting on just over 25k from the original 10k. this is just below average. but with the blinds at just 150/300 and a running ante of 25 you are very comfortable.

a new player has just joined the table. he is young. you don't recognise him. he has around the same stack as you.

new player is UTG. this is the 3rd hand he has been at the table for. the past 2 he has passed. he makes a standard raise to 950.

it folds all the way round to you on the button. you look down and see

you call. the blinds folds.

FLOP:

new player: bets 3k

Q1: WHAT DO YOU DO HERE?

say hero reraised to 8k.. then..

new player thinks for a moment shoves the rest of his stack into the middle. you have him covered by around 1.5k.

Q2: IF YOU HAD RAISED TO 8K DO YOU NOW CALL HIS ALL-IN?

Q3: WHAT DO YOU PUT UTG NEW PLAYER ON?

Will come back to this later but average is about 47k so you are quite far off.

Are you tempted to rule out KQ here, folds twice then raises UTG? Does he look confident? That's the best worst flop 99 can get in this position eh? Answer to question 1, I raise here, but I probably make it 11k, I know it's an overbet but I want to make it look like I'm bloody committed (A bit of blithering idiocy that should be ignored)? I'd have a hard time laying down QQ here if I was him though. Again JJ and TT are both sickening and quite possible. After I  bet I would almost definitely fold to the push unless I thought the guy was an idiot who couldn't lay down an overpair or top pair. That's just my opinion obviously my flop reraise is probably pretty donk like but I don't know if 8k is completely convincing. Be interesting to see the outcome is very tempting to put him on an overset purely because of his action and the board, maybe you should just fold the flop but then why play 99 Wink.

Eh?

Eh?

That's what I do, feel free to pick holes. Never been in such a difficult situation myself, that's how i'd treat it, and I'm more interested to see people what people who have been think.

Why do you want him folding AA or KK?

Ok I give up. If this situation arose I'd go and cry in the corner rather than try and do anything coherent, you can reraise, and you can get put all in. Seems like more of a "feel" situation where it's probably better to fold as you don't have enough information. I do hate to just give up stick em in and hope though. Are there more hands he pushes with that are beating you or not.

A) Re-raise to 8k now.

B) Yes. His re-raising range is KK/QQ/JJ/KQ. When you consider the pot at this stage you arent a big enough dog to consider folding against this range. Add to that the fact that you are in need of chips this is a critical hand.

C)Most likely hands are QQ or KK. KQ is a little loose but possible. Against KQ you are only a 60/40 dog here.
Worst possible holdings are obv JJ and 1010 which have you crushed, but you need chips and this is never going to be a pass after you re-raise.

Maybe include AQ? Your reraising range is quite big there imo.

I quite like the reraise to 8k. And I couldn't fold this after reraising.

yeah I think the majority of people would have their chips end up in the middle here. how did it pan out?
