Because they got two huge refereeing decisions in their favour that they should never have got.  Against Celtic they where lucky when Maldini's stone cold hand ball went unpunnished and then against Bayern they where the recipitents of a very dubious penalty.  But like I say luck goes a long way in these big tournaments.
