I will be shouting my lungs out for De la Hoya. as a MMA fan I've been annoyed by Mayweathers disrespectful comments towards the sport and it's athletes. He's been offered $1M of the UFC presidents own money to fight Chuck Liddell but he'd never do it.

De La Hoya however, trains with and promoted MMA fighters and is highly respectful of the sport.

go on golden boy

What is MMA ?

Laz, mixed martial arts i believe (i learnt that one today as well).

While i think Mayweather will run rings round Oscar and win comfortably on points. I hope Golden boy beats him to a pulp, i will be supporting Oscar like I would Hatton in a big fight. Looking forward to this one, first mega fight for a while.

thats right, MMA = Mixed Martial Arts, ie UFC, Pride, Cage Rage, etc

I had it 115 De La Hoya 114 Mayweather tonight

gave mayweather 1,5,10,11,12 with a share of 8

12th was almost a draw which would make it 116/114.

how a judge gives it 112/116 I don't know but there were a few close rounds.

Thought overall De La Hoya looked a much better fighter.

I thought it was very close and agree with Adam, cant see how 1 judge gave 112-116.

115-113 either way or 114-114 i thought was about right. good fight though.

I'm absolutley knackered now though had just 3 1/2 hours sleep now im off to watch the mighty gunners wreck Chelsea's and Cashley cole's title dream, although i dont think the little botterler will play.

I had it to Mayweather by 2 (115-113).  it was a closer and better fight than I anticipated but PBF's strong finish saw him edge it imo.

looks about right. my guess it the 6 rather than 7 was the close one you gave to mayweather. It's the one me and Watt disagreed on (normally I disagree with far more than that with him) and 8 I gave as a draw and you went the other way (think I was voting that round with my heart).

subjective huh

Yeah you are probably right.  A lot of the rounds were close, couldn't have argued had it gone either way.  Felt a bit for DLH at the end as he had put everything into it.

De La Hoya was in front (on my card) with 4 rounds to go. Then he did what he's done a number of times in his career - and he ran out of steam. He did the same against Whitaker about 10 years ago, but the Golden Boy somehow got a ludicrous decision (wonder how?).

Mayweather struggled to impose his fight on De La Hoya, and it wasn't until De La Hoya tired that Mayweather could show his best skills.

A good fight all told, just a shame De La Hoya wasn't 5 years younger and he might have been able to perform the full 12 rounds.

Would love to see Hatton against Mayweather - but he won't take that fight. Too much to lose, and he knows it would be a very, very tough fight for him.

Mayweather said he was done.  But I don't always believe what he says. Grin

true

I agree with you (though many dont)

I think Hatton would give mayweather a nightmare. silky smooth fighters come unstuck against ferocious brawlers like Hatton and he can put in a 12th round as strong as his 1st. he actually trains for 15 full paced 1st rounds. will never happen though unfortunately
