so we are supposed to treat people the same because of their skin colour and religion but not if there fetures are more refined, i think its bollox, hope pace does his conkers in on the deal
sure, there's nothing wrong with aspiring to an ideal, but you can't deny what people *are*: attracted to a certain type of look (eg Jennifer Harmann) and more likely to feel more secure in their own group...

wow! what a fantastic reaction to a casual, if unguarded conversation. a mixture of "how dare you?" and "why haven't you called me?"
jen harman, jennifer tilly, christy gazes, vanessa rouseau, cloney gowan, annie duke ( oh sorry famous brother. only nepotism there.) brains and beauty in the us of a. why do you not question it?
dtd sponsor this site and the dtd girls will give you a bubble bath if you bubble. no thread criticising the overt sexism there eh? all the dtd boys are fit as..... no picture of simon nowab in a skin tight suit.... more's the pity.
this site is the pioneer of "norkage". i believe it's a euphemism for breasts.
mmmm? hipocracy?
you decide.

oh by the way, forgot to mention IMHO, the best female poker player i've seen in this country, and i include cbass and lucy rokash, is jen mason. she does not need any poker tuition, in fact if she'll give some.... i'll pay

OK found this on DTD website:
At other poker sites there is nothing worse then going out on the bubble however if you just miss the money at the Tuesday, May 1st "Bubble Boy" tournament it maybe the best thing that ever happened to you.
The person who comes 11th will win a prize only to be found on dtdpoker.com, a bubble bath Jacuzzi with his choice of two DTD girls!
Paul Jackson, On-line Poker Director, says: "For anyone who's ever seen pictures of the DTD girls they know that this is a tournament not to be missed."
You know, I've got lots I would like to say on this subject, but it is difficult when DTD are a sponsor.
What I will say is that there have been posts on other threads about the sexist nature of women's tournaments, asking why some women don't feel comfortable coming along to play with men, we are all equal etc etc
With sites like DTD promoting the image of poker as a 'lads only' game, and using near naked women as the main marketing tool (what's wrong with using poker?!), perhaps this goes someway to explaining why some women still feel uncomfortable in what is a very male dominated environment. One can only presume DTD see young men as their key market, and, in terms of making money, have obviously made a decision that they don't mind alienating potential female customers (and possibly driving away existing ones). Fair enough, business is business, but I am uncomfortable with blonde's association with this; DTD's attitude seems somewhat removed from that blonde ethos (and of course I do not speak on behalf of blonde when I say that).
In an ideal world there would be no place for women only tournements, but there would certainly be no room for 'bubble bath for bubble boy' type promotions either. We have a long way to go.

odd, i don't remember hearing any complaints when you were choosing which well oiled firemen would become the men of DTD....
So if they were to run a cash tournament where the winner also got a ride in their "big red engine" you wouldn't be interested?

I'm sure you are well aware of the intention behind that post Matt - stop stirring!
For the avoidance of doubt, I have no interest in seeing pictures of half naked men on poker sites - the earlier thread I started was intended to be a lighthearted way of saying I felt DTD's marketing strategy was inappropriate and non-female friendly.

you decide.
So basically the remark about "attractive" women only would qualify is true then! I personally find this very disappointing to be honest.
Defending it by saying DTD use sexy girls to promote their site is no excuse as two wrongs don't make a right for me.
( and yes I am saying that I believe a lot of the DTD stuff goes too far as well ).
Also the comparison with "norkage" issues on blonde doesn't work as I don't see a few light hearted remarks on a forum being on the same scale as setting up a blatantly sexist business.
For what it's worth I actually think the concept of getting a group of promising UK female players together and training them up before letting them loose on the tournament circuit is potentially an excellent one.
A kind of Hendon Mob but with girlies would be great for poker but looks should
not
be a qualification factor for membership.

we all know how the press can twist things. I for one would be very surprised if Norman had made any reference to this project being for 'attractive' women only.
Norman's a blondite and is bound to read this thread soon enough - let's give him the right to reply to the published comments before taking things as read and making accusations of discrimination.
you're just bitter because it says in the small print "none of the good looking members of team chorlton can apply as they have a heads up trophy to defend at BB5"!!
ditto
