Rafa bought some very good Spanish players - Pepe, Alonso, Garcia, Arbeloa and that fella Torres.
Not denying that at all, but to my knowledge they weren't considered "future players" but bona fida "quality now" players. We need quality now. Buying English (including mancs buying Jones) is a reaction to the new ruling coming in isnt it - hence the stated over-inflated prices?

FWIW Jones as a buy out clause in his contract for 16 or 17 million, can't remember which. He was never going for any less. Also, IMO, Henderson is fantastic prospect. If he keeps on improving then he'll be ur next Gerrard . Admittely he isnt the same player as Gerrard was at the same age. Or of course he might never fufill the potential and get banded around a few clubs, Joe Cole.

Ngog will do ok. He's young, scores and will have a good physical side to his game to come. £12/13M + Ngog is the figure being banded about (although nothing official of course). Sounds like a decent deal at that price imo.
I know the Kenny love in is still in full swing but this one makes little sense to me. Where is he going to play in the short term? - is he really going to displace Lucas, Gerrard or Meireles? Is he really going to develop better then Pacheco, Shelvey, Sterling and the like - genuinely curious. 20/12/13M all seem crazy, almost as crazy as Sunderland taking Ngog at any price but £7m lol Just think if you got 20m to throw about it could be better invested elsewhere, but guess there is more to come. Never a dull moment at Liverpool that is for sure.

Gatso you obv dont rate him either , could you expand on your point please about the terrible transfer policy please.
carrol, torres and henderson are all ridic deals all involving liverpool the club's probably ended up about evens overall though but individually each of those deals was crazy Economically it's not crazy. They are depreciating assets. Let's say we sell Carroll in 7 years for 25m (at his peak) - if he bangs in 15 a season + assists was he worth £10m plus wages? Obv the £25m is worth less in 7 years but you get my point.

I think Henderson is an excellent signing for Liverpool. My complaint about our friend Rafa was he diluted the identity of Liverpool by recruiting too much foreign mediocrity. I've been impressed with Dalglish's direction and his transfer policy by comparison. Primarily targetting younger British players to mould roots and identity moving forward. I admire the fact he resists targetting only instant success to grow something more substantial in the long term. It is what Liverpool deserve. Henderson has a "huge, huge future" in football according to Steve Bruce and just made his international debut so he's about to make his big impact on football and Dalglish wants that impact to be at Anfield. I like Dalglish back at Liverpool because he's credible and people should have faith in what he's trying to achieve.
I heard Benitez wanted a massive transfer budget to take the Villa job. Quelle surprise.

Heard that Jones failed his medical at united? Just a rumour or has anyone heard the same from a proper source?
Don't hear of players failing medicals too often.

Clichy for £5M (seems like a cheap offer), and Comolli is a big fan as I read he was the the one who recommended him to Wenger originally.
I guess he'll cost a bit more than that.
