Suarez may make the bench with Lucas but doubt either will start after Copa
Mereiles has a bruised foot so should be fine for Sunderland.

Reina
Johnson Carra Agger
Kuyt Hendo Adam Meireless Downing
Carroll
Mereiles has an injury I believe, not sure when he'll be fit (could be before the opening game).
I'd have Flanagan in the full-back spot, but guess it depends on how Dalglish wants the side to line-up. From the rumours going round at the moment, it could be Jose Enrique.
£6M fee agreed apparently. Just working out personal terms (Telegraph).

I'm pretty disappointed by pre-season, myself.
I know that most people just write it off as non important other than to gain match fitness for the squad, but it exposed some serious defensive concerns for Liverpool. We must have conceded at least 2 goals in every game.

Reina played one match? Lucas wasn't playing any games in front of anything that resembled a starting back four. Most of the games involved two completely different teams in each half.
Yes, it would have been nice to keep some clean sheets and batter some sides, but many of these games are PR trips, and I'm sure Kenny and the other coaching staff are learning far more in private training and fitness assessments than in these 'exhibition' matches.
It might also temper expectations for this season to a more realistic level.
Here's a question, how did our pre-season go last year, how about man u's? No, I can't remember either.
Roll on the start of the season proper, and hopefully we'll see what Kenny's squad can deliver.

More good news:
"Liverpool will make space for the arrival of the Spaniard by finally offloading outcast Milan Jovanovic, who has agreed a move to Anderlect, and will complete the transfer after undergoing a medical on Thursday"

One year left on his contract, does he not? Never going to command a huge fee given that fact.

Would it have mattered if he did? Lucas has to be the worst Brazillian to have ever put on a national shirt. Cannot understand what he is meant to bring to the team.

You watch him play much last season? You seen his stats from last season? Wonder why he was voted as Liverpool's player of the season?

You had an awful, awful season. Getting POTY was essentially being the best of a very bad bunch.
Polishing a turd doesn't mean it's no longer a turd. It still is.
Don't bring stats into this. Stats don't prove anything. You've tried to use stats to justify buying Downing at 20 mill and let's face it, it still hasn't worked.

So you didn't watch him play much last season then?

Also we were hardly 'turd' in 2011, but you probably didn't watch any of those games either.

I am a complete neutral and would love to see liverpool return to glory and compete for the league. however i can't honestly see them getting back into the top 4 with their current squad and probably 6th is more realistic. liverpool have always had the most optimistic of fans and have a good understanding of the game. it would be intresting to know how they think the top 6 will look in 12 months time (and fun to look back and say wow i was right/wrong). my choice would be
1. chelsea
2. man utd
3. man city
4. arsenal
5. spurs
6. liverpool
