AVB was prob the hottest property in Europe 18months ago.
CFC egos/dressing room ruined him rather than his tactics or decisions.
Something to prove, Won stuff, prem experiance at least, we could do worse!?
Of not rafa would be great, pep would be dreamlike.

and I'm surprised he didn't get another season
I'm not
Pressure on the owners now though, as KD deflected quite a lot of that
big name big reputation or a Lambert/Martinez?
I fear the former, think the later would suit.
Why would the latter suit? Surely the sacking shows there is huge pressure to get top 4.
Why would less experienced managers untested at that level with no experience of budgets or targets as high as that be the best fit?
I'm not doubting their ability but I think they'd fit a bigger team looking to build over a period of time. I think Liverpool need to be there sooner rather than later.
Because I think LFC (owners, some fans) have delusions of grandeur. A Lambert or Martinez I think is better than a, for example, Rijkard on huge money with a big player turnover. Get an up and comer to make their name and if it doesn't work, far cheaper to undo
What about a Benitez or a Guardiola or even a Pardew?
I just think that managers can become fashionable and popular very quickly and they might not always be the best option.
Hodgson is an example, he did a great job at little Fulham and really struggled stepping up a level in quality, budget and expectations.
He bought players in that weren't good enough (Poulsen + Konchesky etc) and then was sacked early into his reign and ended up not being the cheaper option that people thought.
I don't think whoever comes in will have endless money to spend so they need to get the right manager and whether they are a known name or not should be irrelevant.
I agree a manager shouldn't be hired on name alone but nobody is calling for Maradona.
I think it's hard to say that a manager unproven at that level would suit them. Might be a bit picky but I'd probably not have picked up on it if you'd said "I think they should take a chance on X" because in reality that is what they would be doing.
But Jose, surely thats exactly what Dalglish did too. If you think RH bought badly, and the two you have listed were bad then it shows that having the money to spend doesnt mean its going to be spent properly and a big name manager is going to want big money to spend, they always do.
One of the masterpieces that Lambert did when he took over at Norwich was to leave out most of the big signings that had been made in the close season there, he managed the team that beat em 7 up the week before and judged that they were all a bit big time charlie coz they had been given good money. Two weeks on the bench or the stand and they got the message and the club never looked back.
I think that's one of Dalglish's failings this season - he brought in the new signings and stuck with them throughout the season, despite their misfiring. I'm sure Kuyt for one will be happier now Dalglish has gone, especially if there's a chance of Rafa coming back.

Liverpool fans have always thought of Kenny as one of their own,
Even more so now he is unemployed

The players just aren't good enough - it's not to do with their attitudes.

The more I see of FSG, the more I hear and read about them the less likely I think it is to be Rafa. Whatever happens a DoF will be staying - that is not Rafa's gig. They also won't be so inclined to bow to fan pressure like they did when we wanted Kenny last time. I hope I'm wrong, but I really don't think they're going to be after Rafa.

The bottom line is Liverpool is a good team but not a great team, an on there day they can play as good as Man utd an Man city but just dont have the strength in depth like the other teams. When they have there fully fit first team they can be a force as they played a few times against Man utd at home an in the F A cup an were magnificent. They have always relied on Gerard to carry them for so many years an hes obviously on a decling path now due to age. Suarez to a certain extent has done what Gerard has done for so many seasons but its alot to ask one man to carry the team an while they have spent maybe it will take a while to see if the players bought in will live upto the standard needed to get Liverpool into the top 4.
They may of stuttered in the league but people forget they have made 2 Cup finals this year which is a tremonous achievment. What they may lack in class at times is easily made up through passion an its a shame as if they could show the same passion when playing Man utd for instance they would of got better results this season. But when you describe boxers pound 4 pound Liverpool just fall short pound for pound with the big boys.

To say they beat man u and played amazing doesn't mean so much, anyone can have a great one off game, literally every team in the premiership.
It's so simple with me for Liverpool. Use andy Carroll the guy is a beast and will deliver. It's important to have wide men and slow the game down on all set pieces it's an ugly game but it's more effective. Gerard looks good to me when he was delivering crosses, he seems I have lost the energetic drive a little bit and whilst players usually come in field when they get older, a la giggs and Beckham I actually think Gerard moving to the right and being the main supplier for Carroll would be the best option.
Reina
Johnson skrtel agger. Enrique
Shelvey. Lukas
Gerard New left winger
Suarez
Carroll
Some good squad players who can do a good job an perhaps 2 big big signings and you should be back in contention. It is not about your team te team is great, every one would start for Newcastle, it's about te tactics, pardew said recently if we got Carroll back he would insta change the way we play and play around him.

Martin O@Neill must be gutted he took the Sunderland job.
Would have walked into the Liverpool job and probably been the perfect choice.

I went to a talk-in a while ago where John Beresford was the speaker. He said he went into Dalglish's office and asked him why he wasn't getting a game when Pistone was playing terrible at the time, he basically said that he'd bought Pistone and Bez was Keegan's player so he wouldn't get a game if Pistone was fit. He did similar to loads of players that Keegan had bought that where much better than the poor players he bought that failed. Terrible management and I think it's a good choice by your board, glgl next season.

I wonder how long his contract is, he'd leave the Mackems to go there if they'd pay the compo. Brendan Rodgers would be my choice from Prem managers though, his management style would suit Liverpool.

Thats true too, Rodgers has a had a few mares before hitting the high spot with Swansea tho. ONeill is a Sunderland fan so might be tougher to walk away than a club he isn't so close to

Liverpool need and deserve a world class manager to get them back competing for the Champs league spots. Had they finished a few places higher then on reflection the season would have looked ok with the cup success and once again the fans would have been looking forward to next season with the usual optimism Liverpool fans always have before the season starts.

Robbed the following from another forum, food for thought maybe.
don't dismiss managers just because they haven't had years of top flight managerial experiance. you can only judge on what they've done, assess it and then take a calculated risk on whether they would do a job at a particular club. in the case of lambert he's been successful at wycombe and colchester before norwich got him. he soon had them thriving brought in players like fraser forster on loan who was outstanding in goal that year. he now has ruddy who is going to the euros. other signigns include pilkington at 2m who made a good impact, morison who's done a solid stint and numerous others who have made the step up from league one and the championship. he's also recently brought in howson for 2m from leeds who has made a decent start.
yes its a huge jump from norwich to liverpool in terms of the size of the club, expectations and dealing with big name players and egos. but lambert should get the players respect being a european cup winner with dortmund and he is very astute tactically,he's hungry and would be a real driving force playing attacking football and when did liverpool last have an entertaining team? just look at some of norwich's away performces this season, creating chances and dominating spells in games against the big clubs. this would be the big job for him, for other more experienced managers it could be one last pay day.
