Been a problem for 4/5 years still no closer to solving the defending of set pieces at the weekend was pathetic nearly got away with 3 points too!I get so nervous when we give away corner or wide free kicks as you know it's going to cause havoc.

liverpool are in a state now.

a few years back they could get players into the club just because people wanted to play for liverpool - even being out of the champions league wasnt insurmountable tp bringing in talent.

now they are a cup side. and a selling club. not long now before you can say it is 30 years since a league title and 1 european cup victory in 35 years. to put that into context when liverpool last won the league you could have said it was 30 years since burnley had last won the league.

take coutinho, when he was twelve chelsea were just starting to dominate the premier league. liverpool havent won the league in his liifetime. soon there will be players playing whose parents wont be able to remember when liverpool last won the league. their best players over the last few years have been: mascherano, gerrard, alonso, torres, sturridge, sterling, suarez and coutinho. all except gerrard and sturridge left for bigger clubs. and even mr liverpoool steve gerrard was as close as it gets to leaving for chelsea.  if sturridge had been fully fit with 25+ goals a season he'd likely be elsewhere. now coutinho is going. there's not much a mid-tier cup fixated selling club can do to keep genuine talent. they are to man city, chelsea, barca etc what southampton are to liverpool.

its a new era for the young generations. liverpool arent seen as a domestic powerhouse, much less a big club internationally.

Great composure by the kid to take, and score, that free kick.

He must have some confidence to even step up to take it. What is he, 18?

This jibe is just about acceptable from United and Arsenal fans towards Liverpool.

But for City and Chelsea fans to use it is completely LOL.

Both of these teams would be languishing in L1 if it wasn't for dodgy billionaires randomly choosing to pumps squillions into their clubs.

Pipe down and hope to God your respective owners aren't arrested and your teams aren't pushed into liquidation before you start jibing at a club far far bigger than yours will ever be.

The jibe is salient when Liverpool fans talk about their club being bigger than city or Chelsea.

Both are bigger clubs than Liverpool on nearly every metric except history. So if history is the most important thing then yes, Liverpool are a big club. Thank God for history, eh

Stadium size: Only Citeh is bigger
U.K. Supporters: neither eclipse Liverpool
Worldwide supporters: neither eclipse Liverpool
Kit maker: Only Chelski's deal is bigger

Lots of ways to measure the size of a club, who's to say what's the most important?

Wage bill and £ valuation of the club would probably be the most important two.

Liverpool lose their best players to city and Chelsea, the reverse isn't true.

If Harry Kane and deli ali became available tomorrow, or Messi  wanted to chance England Liverpool wouldn't be in the running. The best players don't want to play there.

Chelsea have been competitive for 15 years domestically, dominating for much of the period. Liverpool havent won the league in their players lifetimes. They have history, but we are talking about generational gaps. Some recent past players might have heard about Liverpool off older brothers, but now only dad's can talk about their glory days. If they don't win the league in the next ten years it will be granddad's who will be passing down " when I were a lad..."

Tommorows generation will be watching on 16k surround HD, maybe on VR headsets. The only footage that will exist of Liverpool winning the league will be VHS to digital renderings on niche YouTube channels with players with the physique and facial hair of Micky Quinn lumbering around soggy pitches. The comments section will be dominated by their granddad's talking about how real men played back then.

Kit manufacturers mean nothing if you can't compete for the best players or trophies
