didnt the irish flee from persecution?
To be honest Rick, my knowledge of history, especially Irish history, is embarrassingly low. But I've always wondered why the Irish seem to get everywhere, but not the Scots. Probably because the Scots are so insular, & not welcome, maybe......
Well done on the Cash at Teeside, too. Good Luck at Star City this weekend.
Oh, & I like the haircut. No, I do!
thanks, but im turning into one of those win only players, and was gutted that i didnt win. I dont think that i will ever be happy in a tourney that i dont win.
I really enjoyed this comp tho, everyone was very friendly, and after me and the camel veto'd a saver for the bubble, (which was rich hare) everyone chipped in £20 and gave it him when he returned. Never seen this before and surely a testemant to the players that play these events. The clock was too fast tho, too much play at the start, no play at the end.

Nice touch - your Cash, & the £20 story.
I'm afraid the Gala structure is a bit rapid for rocks like me.

Still, all humour is subjective. I've met folks who think Chubby Brown, Bernard Manning & Russell Brand are funny. It takes all sorts, I guess.
You'd never catch me leaving a rude message on the answerphone of an elderly man.
BTW, what's you phone number Tikay?
lol.
Luckily, I don't have a grand-daughter. But if I did, & Brand left "that" message for me, I'd thwack the gormless idiot. Having seen his apology, I almost feel sorry for Brand, he's clearly cerebrally challenged.
I'm have not, nor will I
(Unless I'm pressed)
comment on the Brand/Ross/Sachs issue. (That band waggon is overloaded already) But I thought Brand's apology was honest and sincere, and he didn't come across as cerebrally challenged to me. (Which proves that it's not only humour that's subjective)
FMP
I'm pressing.......
I'm appalled at the way such an insignificant issue can be hyped up an blown out of all proportion by the media.
I'm even more appalled that the thousands of people who are up in arms and baying for blood because of this manage to stay silent while every day children are sexually abused, starved or beaten to death. Vandals destroy people's property in broad daylight, and OAP's are mugged in the street.
Yes, Brand and Ross are responsible for what they said, but they are not responsible for it being broadcast. If the powers that be are going to apportion blame, they should do it fairly. How come those charged with vetting the programme have not been suspended?
You yourself are constantly in the public eye, how easy would it be for you to make an error of judgment, and how would you then feel if the media were to whip the masses into a state of hysteria?

Jesus H Christ! Let's get some perspective here. It's a sad world when something so inconsequential means so much to so many.

yeah i suppose i knew the structure before i played. Aparrently this star city comp is sold out, i didnt think it would break 150 runners. Leknave and middy have missed out i believe. There are no antes in this comp so a lot of players will have to adjust thier game greatly

BREAKING NEWS.....
THAT ONCE GREAT AMBASSDOR FOR POKER TONY ' TIKAY' KENDELL DRAPED HIMSELF IN A CLOAK OF SHAME LAST NIGHT AT LUTON G BY WINNING ...
THE RUB DOWN OF THE MONTH AWARD
Ouch, I really am sorry about that.
I had A-K, he had Q-J, all-in pre. Somehow, I had it in my mind that he had a bad ace, (which was what I had put him on) so I was worried when this Flop & Turn ensued.....
2-2-3-5
The 4 rivered, I thought "damn, we both have the wheel", & stopped Sicilian from leaving, he already had his coat on. "Come back, you are still in" I said.....
Oops.
Oh, & it's KendAll please. Mr Kendall, or His Excellency. A am an Ambassador, you know.
LOL.. worse thing was i knew i was out and you still made me check and look....

I think that's a great idea - I can see the headline on the front page of The Sun now.
TV'S 'MR POKER' IN 'COME BACK, YOU ARE STILL IN' RUBDOWN SHAME.

You missed my subsequent take on the issue Tom. I said.....(my enboldenment)
"As to Ross/Brand, it's very simple. Everything after their 'phone call is irrelevant to me
- the young Producer was in a spot, how can he possibly stand up to Ross & Brand?, etc, but
none of that matters a jot to me, that's all after the event, being the 'phone-call."
The young lady was NOT a satanic slut. She was a "Satanic Slut" - a very big difference.
And if I made such a gaffe, on TV. Well I might, one day, if you do enough Live Broadcasting, your inner thoughts will eventually emerge, a'la Ron Atkinson, or Ross/Russell, so in this respect, I'm pretty safe I think. But if I did, I'd have to pay the bill, & quit, no argument.

Nah. Last night, with Compo, Alex Martin, & co, we held the Luton Leg of the World Rubdown Championships. Which I admit, I won, hands down. Or up, in Sicilian's case.
Compo pulled a right stunt.
MDD accidentlly exposed his hand - 2nd nut flush - before Compo had acted.
Compo instantly went all-in, "sorry MDD, gotta do it, I have seen your hand, I'm beating that." MDD grudgingly Passed.....

With which I agree, 100%.
Today's Times, shooting itself neatly in the foot, said....
"
Be you ever so high, the lawyers say, the law is above you. Jonathon Ross has just discovered that be you ever so witty, the British press is above you, too. It always gets it's man......"

And if I made such a gaffe, on TV. Well I might, one day, if you do enough Live Broadcasting, your inner thoughts will eventually emerge, a'la Ron Atkinson, or Ross/Russell.
So you really do think that all the Welsh are sheep shaggers and all the Scots are mentally and physically inferior to the English then? (Or were you just joking?)

Well what I meant was that you have been known to make jokes at the expense of others i.e, the Welsh, the Scots, The French etc, (all in fun I hasten to add) So you can't possibly say that things said in fun always represent your inner thoughts, because you and I both know that you are one of the most unprejudiced people in the world.
