It was nice sharing a table with you yesterday at DTD Tikay. How did you get on sir, and did you finally get the guy who kept pushing 35k just to steal your 2k?
You too Sir, you are a delight to share a Table with.
I managed to cash - just. 227 runners, 27 paid, & I finished 27th, lol!
Huge huge, fun though. Shared several Tables with Thewy, too, & a bunch of other long-time friends. Had a truly lovely day, but I'd been up all night the previous night at Luton in the Cash Game, so I swerved the DTD Cash after I exited (about 11pm) & drove straight down to Heathrow, ready for work today.
Yesterday & the day before were my "Christmas" in a way, Live poker 2 days running! - but I'm well pleased to be back working properly this morning.
PS - I went to the Cash-Desk at DTD to pick up my two-bob in winnings, & an All-England Serial Nipper tapped me on the shoulder! Those boys don't miss a trick.
I can't understand why people are so happy to see you - all you ever do is criticise them - poor old Julian and his jumper !

Be fair - it was horrendous, a real Grandad-jobbie. And no matter how much I got on his case about it, I was not up to your rub - you coolered him a treat, one of THE put-downs of 2009.

An Omaha hand came up, it was 6 card Hi-Low, but effectively high Only.
I flopped the abs cocoanuts on this flop.....
I had no clubs, & no other extensions, it was dangler-city.
Before it got to me it went "all-in" 3 times, & it was my entire stack - about £800 at the time (began with £300) - to Call.
What is the correct play here?
I fold here too. And i know you will respect this answer now i am a DC expert :-)
You did OK for one who claimed "to have no idea".

I had 3k (4 x BB) not 2k, please.
He ran into KK on attempt # 93, before I could bust his arse.
He was a nice lad, just enjoying himself. I asked him if he'd ever played Pot-Limit, he replied "no, I'm not very good at working things out so I just shove it all-in".

instamuck without a seconds thought
what are your thoughts on the 6 card h/l hand when the flop came
You ARE remarkably well-informed Jim!
What can I say? I had the dream hand, something like (not exact, as I forget now) A-2-6-7-8-9, with nut clubs.
There were 3 side-pots & the main pot, two of which were quartered. It was very complicated sorting out the Pot. G-Man (aka Golden Shower) was dealing, so while they were sorting it out, I went outside & had a smoke. I returned 10 minutes later, & they were still sorting the Pots!
I'm not sure, but I think I cleared about £1k in that coup. I left a "nice" drink for the Dealer, plan being that nobody else needed to tip the Dealer for the rest of the night.
Later, & still on a heater, I had the absolute nuts (Tens full) in a Hi-Only game & my heads-up oppo looked like he was gonna pot it for his case money. I flicked up the 10 because I did not want him doing more money. I know that's wrong wrong wrong, but it was just a bunch pf mates having a good time, & I'd won more than enough for one night.
It's ok, you don't need to tell me I'm a daft soft sod. I know.
The volatility in DC is so big I really ought not to play it, but it is rather fun I do think. I'm afraid I coolered Lalit, as well.

To be fair - are you all ready for this? - I see Julian was a bit of a
tatterdelion
myself.
Now, you can all google that word, or check it in the OED, that's easy.
But do you know from where the word derives? Ralphy boy worked it out, so see if you can.
It's so enjoyable to discover new words, but this new word is very old. Once you suss the meaning of the word, the origin should be simple, but I'm not sure I'd have ever worked it out.
Kev won't be so fast this time, trust me, As for Cos, don't wait for him, he'll have no idea.

The volatility in DC is so big I really ought not to play it.
There are a lot of big swings in that game and it can be a very painful night if you are on the wrong side of things. i have played in the game a few times recently and the standard seems to be getting worse with a lot more gambling and getting lucky. I saw a 5 way allin preflop for about 300-400 each the other night at 6 card omaha. I wouldnt call 3 pounds with half of the hands let alone get my stack in.
I think the biggest skill in that game these days is leaving at the right time.

Mmmmm - 'tatterdelion'.
Well - thinking laterally - could be an Olde English bastardisation of the French tete (that's a bonce for Cos).
So 'lion's head' ..... anything to do with Richard the Lionheart (that's a Medieval SAS trooper for Cos).

One does not wish to be too pedantic but I believe the correct spelling is tatterdemalion
Meaning...wearing ragged clothing
Tatter, as in tattered
Not sure of the derivation of demalion though

One trusts Tighty.
You are indeed right & I mis-spelled it.
tatterdemalion.
And you are correct as to "ragged clothing", sort of. So that's where the "tatter" prefix emenates from. More precisly, it's a well-heeled man wearing - as Thewy was last night - tatty clothes.
The other part is the clever bit. I've no idea how Ralph sussed it, but it's clearly right.
Clues available on request.

Got it ..... it's what a Yorkshireman calls undercooked chips whilst on holiday in Majorca, "tatter - del - ion and mushy peas please Senor".
