Nicked from the wpt website.

Extended registration provided an interesting twist as players continued to buy in through out the day.  The strategy proved to have mixed results as some like  Daniel Alaei and Scott Seiver both registered and thrived today, ending with stacks of over 200,000. Unfortunately for most that chose to come late, the pressure of accumulating chips quickly proved to be their downfall. Prahlad Friedman, Haralabos Voulgaris, Mclean Karr, Chino Rheem, Dario Minieri (among others) all registered late but were eliminated early.

* * *

Registration will continue to be open until the end of the first level of the day.  For anyone that comes last minute, they will start with a full chip stack of 40,000 which will be about 20 big blinds. Rumored to possibly make an appearance are Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey.

Perfect for the London leg next month.

Sod the midweek start.........do a couple of days work, go home have something to eat, get changed, showered, then stuck in West End traffic, and still have 20bb's to start. Cheesy

Arrogance, egotism and self-confidence are commonplace in the game of poker. Experienced players like us really don't mind that, we expect it, and we appreciate you need some of those qualities to play the game well. But I figure this can be rather off-putting to new players. So I reckon a company like Sky Poker has a problem here, and they need a solution to break down the wall of arrogance in poker. So they get an experienced poker guy who is humble, accommodating, and has proper old school ethics to present their shows. This way poker will appeal to the widest range of new players. And they will make themselves a shit load of money.

Tikay, I think you should chill out a bit. If you've just signed a new contract it means your employers value you. They value you because you do the job well. Rather than wanting to vomit when you read the crazy stuff on forums you should think of it as your bread and butter. The reason your brand of nice works so well. Your unique selling point. Hence be yourself on Twitter, it's what Sky are paying you to be.

Agree with Mantis. I like the WSOP updates you give and i'm sure sky poker players like to follow how their players are doing but my favourite tweet from you today was about American breakfasts. It's not going to change anyone's life but it was light and showed personality. Just be you.

Hello Tikay,

I'm with you on the Twitter thing, I think all Tweets are boring, pointless and are generally for people who think they are more important/interesting than they actually are.

I would much rather a long-winded ramble on a forum/blog any day, where you can express what you need to say in a humorous fashion. I for one hope Twitter stays for the younger ones and we can ramble like drunken tramps on our forums.

All though, I will most likely be on my own in this view (no change there then?!).

Keep up the good work!

The reason I tweet? So family/friends/shareholders/investors can keep up to date with how I'm doing in poker tournaments.

If anyone else chooses to follow me that's up to them, but don't accuse me of being self important, I'm writing for a specific audience, if you don't like it, go elsewhere.

Oh my, what a day!

I'll return later to the above discussion, which fascinates. Human psychology is a wonderfully fascinating thing, & that's what it is - the way the mind works.

But for now, an amazing day for us in Vegas.

We took three players into Day 4, out of a party of 6 qualifiers.

Of today's three, one - "Direwolf" - felll just short of the money, agonisingly close.

Another - "Penguin7" - min-cashed, after being near felted on Day Three, & somehow hanging in. He cashed for $19,000, not a bad return on his £13 Satellite investment, but more than that, it was the poker day of his life, a Maiden 3 year old winning the Derby, so to speak. He's made up.

The third - "KidGirlGy", a housewife from Grimsby, a "recreational" poker player in every sense of the word, & a lovely lady, ended the day, after struggling throughout, on 372,000 - nigh on average. (Blinds are 2,500/5,000/500). And she's not finished yet, not by any means.

Meanwhile, a SP Cash Hotpot, Redmond Lee, who kills the £5 £10 SP Cash Tables, & who led Day One in 2009, began today on 230,000. And ended it on 1,180,000, making him 13th overall, I believe. We just interviewed him, & he speaks very well, too.

One of those days that only occur once in a blue moon.

So I still don't know when I'm coming home.

We've delayed our homecoming 3 times now - there's no way we'll go home whilst we have player(s) in.

I was booked for PTP (Online play) on Friday Evening, & the Live Show on Saturday, so that's those two out of the window. I won't lose the fees, as I know & trust them well enough, & they'll "make them up" for me, they are as good as gold like that.

But I'm nearly out of clean socks & knickers. Nothing in life is ever quite perfect.

Amazing game poker, & I'm never happier than when I see regular players do well.

Happy day, happy days.

So, now I need to get some PR puff out to the poker media, pen some pieces to distribute to various outlets.  Me, doing PR puff, who'd have thought?

I'm still struggling to get a handle on the various aspects of my job - the job is so varied, it's like shaking hands with an ambidexterous octopus.

I need to extend my Cat Lady's remit now too, Angell willl not be impressed.

The interview with our lady player is up now, & the Redmond Lee one will be up within minutes. See...

Oops, puff already......

That's me done for today. It's nearly 1am Vegas. What a day, strewth.

And I've just realised, I'm gonna miss a lot of The Open, from St Andrews. The very sort of thing I retired to enjoy.

Men, never happy.

OK, Fair enough each to their own, when you say 'go elsewhere' do you mean from this forum or Twitter.

I was referring more to so-called celebrities, who feel the need to post about visiting the toilet etc...

Anyway, I am not going to hi-jack this thread with my ramblings, so, happy tweeting my friend.

so when you said that twitter is, "generally for people who think they are more important/interesting than they actually are", what you meant is actually that twitter has an, "absolutely, tiny proportion of people who think they are more important/interesting than they actually are" on it?

I would argue that Twitter is mainly used by people who think they are more important/interesting than they actually are. Which is why most only have a small interested and active following, like Herbie said.  Obviously there are exceptions to this rule (Like people who use it to keep in touch with family etc and Mr Fry and obviously TK) However, most tweets from family are about as interesting as your auntie's holiday snaps from her trip to Blackpool 5 years ago. (In the same way that most blogs are awful)

You're making the assumption that most people on twitter are there to tell people things rather than just follow people they find interesting.

I'd say twitter is made up of.

Broadcasters: (e.g. Stephen Fry) who provide active content
ReBroadcasters: (e.g. Kinboshi) who don't ever (ever ever ever) say anything interesting themselves but they notice when other people do and retweet (rebroadcast) it.
Consumers: (e.g. the vast majority of those on twitter) who join twitter primarily to read content, rather than to write it

Obviously if people only really join to follow people - they might occasionally have something to say themselves, but that's not the reason they're there.

The self important people you and Herbie H refer to are part of the 'Broadcasters' subset, and as such might represent a significant minority of that section - but the vast majority of people on twitter don't have anything much to say and they know they don't have much to say; they're there to read and interact rather than to be a content provider.
