Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Super -Stud all they have to offer is shifting sands and they'lll have every grosvenor staff worth a £ in the country..
Once xmas is over ill be at
dt
d
, have they got a doorway i can sleep in
?
Yup, it's very popular down at DTD already. I know many don't like it, but maybe a solution would be to offer a Super-Stud & Stud ONLY Table, using a different or enhanced charging mechanism. We want these things, well, we have to pay for them, & that's fine by me.
At both Luton & DTD many of us love Super-Stud, & I hope we get the chance to keep playing it. But the theatrical slow-squeeze merchants need to be a bit less selfish, & speed things up a bit.
I did hear several requests for Paduki (each to their own I suppose), but thankfully, from my perspctive anyway, DTD seem dead set against it. Phew!

Simon
Trumper
. Most of us know him as a player, & one of considerable talent & achievement. He's been around for donkeys years, the last 7 or 8 with the lovely Matilde, who's French & really rather beautiful.. He used to clear blocked drains for a living - well, ran a drain cleaning business, with jetters & such like. (As did I at one stage). And he's sold a watch or two in his time - ask him about watches, & you'll hear chapter & verse.
Then came Late Night Poker, & many years a a Circuit Pro, particularly adept at Omaha. Almost always with Matilde Railing him.
Then along came
dt
d
, & Simon disappeared, to concentrate on that. Matilde signed up too - she trains the
dt
d
Dealers into "the
dt
d
way" I believe, as well as helping out with Dealing when it's ultra busy. Boy, she can't 'arf deal fast, too.
I was watching Simon do his thing at
dt
d
last week, he's the sort of chef d'equipe, the charge d'affairs, the man who oversees all things
dt
d
in the Live Cardroom. And it seemed to me that he'd found his destiny - he must have been born to do that, he does it so well. Smartly attired in a dark suit, crisp white shirt, smart tie, & shiny shoes, he bustles & hustles about, making sure everything is tickety-boo. Ever diplomatic, but to the point, if someone takes a problem to Simon, he sorts it. Sharpish.
Rob
Yong
knew what he was doing when he selected Simon, & there were many who thought he'd got that one wrong. He did not. Quite how he visualised Simon being so good in that role I don't know, but it's as if he's always been doing it.
Mother Hen he shall always be from now on.

Finally, whilst on DTD, & before I get to bed, two more DTD things.
One, try the "egg benedict" - it's the greatest egg-benedict you'll ever taste. I had two last week, it's so good. The Brekkie looks good too, & I had a pretty tasty burger there too. The food is excellent, really.
Two - part of the fun for me was hooking up with so many of my old friends & acquaintances from Gala Notts, many of whom I've not seen for a year or two,. but with whom I spent so many happy times. One of these is a Chinese Gent, by the name of Timmy. I rub alog terrific with Timmy, & when we spotted each other last week, we just had to share a cash-table, & it was thoroughly enjoyable to sit next to him for 6 or 7 hours. He even remembered me one-outing him with
in a cash-game 4 years ago!
Anyway, he tickled me when he mentioned Rob Yong. Timmy has a very Chinese accent, & strugggles a bit with some words, so Rob Yong came out as Lob Long.
"Me like Lob Long, he leally is top bwoke, light?"
Lob Long indeed. I don't recommend calling him that though. He may get Mother Hen to throw you out.

The Times has been running an Advert for few weeks now, headed "TOTAL BODY SCAN (registered trade mark), AN MOT FOR YOUR BODY".
You can be medically scanned for the bargain price of £1,190 - it should be £1,390, but they are running an "anniversary discount".
You get all this......
"A warm welcome & personal contact with our medical Co-ordinators.
A multi-skilled team of doctors.
A CD-Rom on the same day as the scans.
A private GP Consultation.
Customer satisfaction".
So there you go. Personal contact is ad-speak for you can physically see the Staff, "multi-skilled Doctors" means, well, I don't really know, but the best is the last - "customer satisfaction". How do they know that - can they see into the future?
What a load of tosh, I'd not go near them with a barge-pole, but no doubt plenty of folks will shell out £1,190. After all, they are going to get Customer Satisfaction.
I loathe & detest marketing speak more with every passing day.

Lob Long is a fantastic porn name isnt it? But for sheer ironic brilliance you cant beat the ex Detroit Lions quaterback called Chuck Long.

It's a form of draw poker in which you try to get the worst hand (different suits) using four cards.

A pure Super-Stud & Stud Table? I've no idea really if it would take off as a Stud "only" Table, more importantly, with demand for cash tables at DTD far outstripping supply for a wee while yet, I doubt if they would lay it thus. But you never know.
Paduki (it may in fact be spelt Padooki) is a game where the best low wins, the best low being A-2-3-4, all different suits. No straights, flushes, pairs, trips, you simply want the "best" low hand. 4 cards are dealt, round of betting, then you can swap 1, 2, 3 or all 4 of your cards. Rinse, repeat twice more.
The pots get massive, & it's a temendous betting & bluffing game. Lawrence Gosney will clean you out at Padooki if you take him on. They play it pretty big in Sheffield.
Some argue - me included - that it's not Poker, but older & wiser folks than me - Karabiner & Jon Shoreman for example - say it is poker.

Padooki kinda reminds me of a draw style Razz from the sounds of it, but more strategic as you can't see any of your opponents cards...interesting, I'll have to have a closer look at it, and avoid Lawrence Gosney from the sound of it!
I know Rob Yong doesn't advocate self deal tables at DTD, but when that new casino in Coventry opened its doors, they introduced cash games where people could sign up to solely deal (for tips, but that part was overlooked) and the cardroom manager changed the dealer every hour. I'm assuming that the demand for cash tables is outstripping supply because of a lack of dealers, maybe this could be a short term option? Most players can competently deal No Limit, and then Rob could mainly use his trained dealers for the dealers choice games?
I agree with what you're saying on the Super-Stud/Stud only table...but I think that a Super-Stud/5 and 6 Omaha only Dealers Choice table would definitely be a hit, and there would be demand for that, as those are the 2 main games chosen in a Dealers Choice game?

In Coventry there is a diminutive Chinese poker player called Richard, everyone calls him "Rittle Lichard".

There is no chance that Rob would go that route, no chance at all. DTD is all about Poker being run properly. Self-Deal, particularly in Notts, is not the way to go.
The current Dealers Choice Options there are good. My reason for raising the subject was the oddity that by agreeing to lay Super-Stud, they were in fact impacting upon revenue significantly, something that had not previously occurred to me.

Handy Hints.
If you should happen to need to know what the time is right now in Venezuala, just turn your (analogue) watch upside down, & that gives you the correct time, after adding an hour for the BST adjustment.
What would you do without me?
Not reading incorrect factoids methinks
Someone's been pulling your leg (probably to see if you read the 'fact' out on TV).
Lettter in The Times, Saturday 15th December.
"Sir,
The President of Venezuala has done me & others who deal with Venezuala from the UK a great favour.
By setting the nations clocks back 30 minutes, he has made Venezualan time five & a half hours behind BST. So over the summer I will be able to see the time in Venezuala simply by turning my watch upside down.
Yours,
John Thirtle,
London N4"
Mr Thirtle, who is "The Times" equivelant of Mrs Trellis from North Wales (Mrs Trellis of "I'm sorry, I havent a Clue" fame) is rarely wrong in matters of such gravity.
I demand a retraction, failing which I shall instruct my solicitors to, err, do something. Could even be a stiff letter.
